Ok cool. :)

Now back to my original questions:

1) Do you need to assign VA to VSX only on the phase of change, or for every phase? For example, a EB currently on a laser setting with VA wants to change to a baseball EB. On the phase of change, it obviously requires that VA is assigned to VSX. What about the 2nd phase if you want the EB to remain a baseball EB?

2) Does the "drasticness" of the change matter when assigning VA as VSX? As an example, would changing the laser EB to a heat ray EB require assigning only +1/4 of your VA, and changing laser EB to baseball EB require assigning +1/2 of your VA to VSX?

1. If a character wants to maintain the change of special effect, he has to keep part of his Variable Advantage assigned to Variable Special Effects — otherwise, the power reverts to its normal special effect, whatever that may be.

2. Given the way Variable Advantage works, a character who wants to allot part of it to Variable Special Effects must always choose the +1/2 level of Variable Special Effects, absent GM permission to the contrary. Otherwise the character could effectively have the equivalent of the +1/2 level simply by switching from one form of +1/4 Variable Special Effects to another.
