Here's the template I've been working on for my imminent TE campaign. It incorporates a bunch of setting-specific Perks and Skills, plus a new "Sectional Defences" modifier for Armour.

This new limitation basically combines those for "Real Armour" and "Activation Roll", with a limitation value extrapolated from the probability of hitting any of the locations covered -- for example, a vest covers locations 10-12, with the chance of rolling any of those numbers on 3d6 being 32.1%, roughly equivalent to a 9- activation.

No doubt there are more elegant ways of doing it, but it seems to work OK so far.

I've also dropped the NCM cutoff points for physical characteristics to reflect the relative puniness of the future humans in my campaign. If you prefer to keep them at their official level, you just have to delete the template entries for STR, DEX, CON and BODY.

I'd be interested to get some feedback on how it works for people; I've no doubt there are many improvements which could be made.

What did you think of the template editing process, out of curiosity?

Looks good, but needs a equipment tab.

The equipment tab is toggled on or off in the campaign rules, not the template.

It was very, very easy. Most things are pretty self-explanatory, and others I can generally work out with a bit of experimentation. There are no doubt subtleties which I'm missing, but as with everything practice makes perfect :)

Considering that my programming knowledge is miniscule, and the problems I encountered were very minor, I don't really see how it could be much simpler unless you went to a full-blown point-and-click editing gui (which would be just a tad overkill).

What is the procedure for actually opening/using this template? I have tried to look at it several times and get nothing.

Template -> Choose File...

That will set the template for whatever character you're working on at the time. You'll likely want to create a new character to test it out...

When I do that I just get a normal template. There system is showing no difference between the TE template and a normal superhero template.

Is there some procedure for converting the txt file to an hdt file that I am doing incorrectly? I saved the file and then told the system to open it with Hero Designer. After that nothing has happened. It just appears to be a normal template.

You don't tell the system to do anything. When you go to Template -> Choose File... only .hdt files will be shown. If you select the template that Fitz provided, then it will become the active template on the character, setting the rules to those that Fitz has worked into his template.

You're not going to see wide-sweeping changes. Templates control the rules by which the system operates. You may see label changes on the background/basic info tabs, and available lists may be different.

The active template is displayed in the status bar of the app.

Thanks. I got it now. It was just that when I saved it originally it saved as a txt file, and so I had to tell the system which program to use it with. But I see that it is working now.
