View Full Version : Witchy, Witchy, Witchy Witch. I wonder where that Scarlet Witch is?

And I wonder how to chart her out.

I was just working on a character who has an EB with Limited Variable Advantage and No Concious Control (-1) so that she can activate the power but is never sure which of her effects will manifest.

That got me to thinking about Wanda and I was wondering if anyone out there has a write up for her or how people have gone about defining her "Hex" power.

Any info would be a great help.

Thanks

Yeah, it's me again.

You can find at least one version of SW (the link to the other is apparently broken) at the remarkable collection called "The Great Net Book of Real Heroes:"

Thanks Liaden,

I found the GNBORH write up right after I put the post up but found it unsatisfying, it just didn't quite seem to capture the randomness of her hex bolts as shown in the comics.

Maybe you could help? How would you describe Wanda's hex bolts and abilities? Is the unpredictability just role playing or SFX or it actually, somehow, inherent in the construction of the power? At one point, I thought that Wanda's hex bolt power was just 5d6 Unluck, Usable as an Attack at Range, Visible maybe with Variable SFX. I guess the problem is that Champions is a game that's as much about quantities as qualities, so how does one satisfactorily quantify something like that? How would you?

Maybe what I should do is shut up and attach Nirvana so you can take a look at her and let me know if the randomness that I was hoping to capture is apparent.

So that being said, here she is. If you're interested in her background (amnesiac, otherdimensional avatar of darkness who should never have been on Earth but who is and whose presence shatters "fate" as we know it) I'll fill you in further.

So, here she is.

Cheers,

Vigil

When stating out Witchey-Poo, don't forget her "Sentient Plot Device" power. Seriously, read the Avengers and see how often the solution comes down to "Wanda does [something]..."

And note the lack of humor tags, I'm not being sarcastic. Wanda is the J'onn J'onz of the Avengers.

I personally think the Scarlet Witch's powers come down to nothing more than a simple Multipower with assorted powers that all have the Variable Special Effects Advantage. The Scarlet Witch's powers are always beneficial, and thus, IMO, do not deserve a Limitation any greater than a Uncertain of SFX: -1/4.
