Due to finical reason, I stopped collecting Digital Hero last June (was still unemployed at the time). I would like to pick up a couple issues I have missed (# 11-16) as an after Christmas to myself.

I think I would get #13 since it had the Create the Hero contest winners. Which other issues would people suggest to getting.

Every issue has some great stuff, and I guess it all depends upon whether you're looking for something for a particular genre or just something interesting to read. However, I'll make my recommendations, in the order that I'd buy them. Keep in mind that I run a Champions campaign, so the other genres rate lower to me; you may feel differently.

DH #12 has Unearthed Mechana, an excellent 3-scene Champions adventure. To run as-is, you would need two characters from Conquerors, Killers, and Crooks, and it includes a few characters of it's own. I ran this adventure the weekend after the Blackout of 2003, and managed to tweak things to get my players to cause the blackout. I plan to bring Mechana back in future adventures.

Shameless self-promotion: That same issue also has my first DH article, The Bayside Blimp. This was designed to be a setting for occasional Champions (or if slightly modified, Pulp Hero) adventures.

As you mentioned, #13 is a great issue due to the Create the Hero Contest winning characters. Easily worth the price.

In the "Well Worth Reading" category, DH #16 has Biker Hero. It's by the same person that writes the excellent You Gotta Have Character articles, and it was an extremely entertaining read even if I never use it in gaming. It also has some neat solo NPCs for a Champions campaign.

DH #15 has a great Western Hero adventure (Dreadwood, Missouri), ghosts for a Horror Hero game, as well as a fun villain group (Doctor Brutallo and the Alliance of Evil).

If you're running a Fantasy campaign, DH #14 is worth a look-see. It has a FH adventure (Your Horoscope For: Virgo) that's pretty good, as well as an article on medieval villages.

Finally, DH #11 has a great multi-genre feel to it. It has a cool Star Hero adventure; articles on transworld fantasy, sci-fi campaigns, and keeping a campaign moving; as well as a great article by Steve on the Trigger advantage. While it rated lower to me, this issue is more likely to appeal to a broader audience due to the multiple genres covered.

Hope that helped. There are reader reviews of most of the issues in this category if you want a bit more detail on a particular issue.
