I am slowly working on various HERO stuff for my website, basically equipment, weapons and vehicles for "heroic" games, western, modern, pulp, fantasy etc. My question is would people prefer to see things that stick really close to the established HERO stuff or are people open to changes, not house rules so much as just using the rules to do some things differantly, for example I have additional stats for firearms and am working on a revised Fantasy HERO list of weapons. Basically I've seen a number of posts of people looking for weapons and equipment, and since The Ultimate Weapon is at least 3 years away and Dark Champions is 1 year away and may or may not include much in this way and I like doing lists of these things I wanted to get some opinions before I get too far into it, I may eventually do lists both ways but I don't want to bother with a list of differant than HERO stuff if there is an overwheming response of not interested. On the otherhand my differant from HERO list is more fun for my own uses, plus when TUW and DC do come out it is less likely to be in conflict with them (repeating what they print) unless the DoJ crew is so impressed they ask me to write it :D . Anyway I'd any appreciate input.

Well Toad, my slimey, warty, little friend if anyone knows anything about weapons it seems to be you! I would look forward eagerly to whatever you have on the subject. Maybe you should make a start on The Ultimate Weapon. (unless they have someone else lined up of course)

I for one would be very interested! I don't really like the standard 5th ed. equipment as written (especially the muscle powered weapons) and am interested to see anyone else's interpretations.

I'm pretty sure The Ultimate Weapon is one of Steve's pet projects, I've seen something to that effect at some time. Besides while I can write up a mean list of things that mangle people I don't think I have the writting experience to match the current crop of HERO books.
Anyway thanks for the input I just didn't want to waste my time throwing new stats up that wouldn't interest anyone.
Any further comments are appreciated.

If you're proposing something that you'd like other HERO players to be able to use, I think that too many or too radical changes would not be all that helpful. Almost everyone has their own ideas as to how to tinker with the official ruleset to make it work "better" for their games, and would probably be familiar enough with their own changes to modify a standard writeup when they see one without too much trouble; but significant variation from the standard might be a confusing turn-off.
Beyond that, though, for me a lot would depend on the kind of changes you have in mind. For example, if you just intended to alter the parameters of weapons with existing writeups - change Damage Classes, STR Minima, CV bonuses, etc. - to match your interpretations, or broaden the available range of weapons with your own writeups, that would be welcomed and appreciated. If you wanted to add optional Powers or Advantages to weapons that you think would suit their effects better than what's available now - such as creating a new Piercing Advantage resembling the old Champions III effect - that might be welcome too, but I myself would prefer that there weren't a whole lot of them, that they were well explained, and that they be sufficiently "modular" that I could replace them with something else if I preferred.
If you were thinking of significantly changing the way that standard Advantages and Limitations worked for your writeups, though, that I would be uncomfortable with; it would mean changing the way that things are designed in my own campaign to match with them, or else change what you created to match mine - not that much of a work-saver in either case. ;)

I didn't get the impression he's looking to modify the rules that much. I would also like to see your interpretation, especially if you include some of the things that have been disussed in the other threads in this vien, like designating weapons as slashing, piercing, and blunt (or whatever), and how that would effect different armor types...
Oh, thought I'd go back and vote...
