OK, bear with me - This might seem a bit of an odd question.
I placed an order for a BUNCH :D of Hero books at frpgames.com (since they take Paypal & the online store doesn't). Well, I got a nice big box of stuff, everything there except the Hero Designer CD-ROM 2cd edition I ordered  I promptly emailed them & got an answer that you guys at Hero Games had sent them 1st edition CD-ROM's by mistake & they were waiting for you to send the correct ones, then they would mail it to me. S0.... Its been a couple of weeks now & thier website is still showing the 2cd ed CD-ROM as "out-of-stock".
Uh,... do you think it will be much longer before you restock those guys? Please?
BTW: It would be really wonderful if you guys could start accepting Paypal.
Thanks.

Well, FRP doesn't buy products directly from us, so I'm afraid somewhere in your discussion with them somebody got confused. FRP buys from distributors, which ones I don't know, and those would have been the ones who messed up their order. As for how long it will take to fix it, I also can't say- all of our distros can get new CDs from us in a matter of a few days if they run out, so I'm not sure what the problem would be.
As for Paypal, we have been very concerned with reports from other manufacturers about security and accuracy. From the accounts we've gotten, it seems to be very convenient for customers but a nightmare for online sellers to work with. We'll continue to look into it in case they've changed anything, but based on the experience of friends of ours we have no plans right now to offer it. dw

Thanks for the reply, Darren. I'll just have to get back in touch with them again, I suppose.
As for Paypal, yes it is VERY convenient for buyers & yes I too have heard of some problems, mostly with international purchases. I haven't hweard of any problems with US-based sellors & US-based buyers, but there might be. Well, it was just a thought.:(

Darren,
Just wanted to say that my wife buys extensively on eBay, mostly dolls. Over the last couple of years she has seen a large number of sellers who once accepted PayPal, stop accepting it as a form of payment due to problems they encountered.
(This is despite eBay's constant pushing of PayPal as a payment method.)
One problem she has had with them on eBay, is that they seem rather "invasive".
Whenever she wins an auction where PayPal is one of the payment options, (even when she has clearly chosen another option), she is immediately "dunned" with multiple emails from PayPal requesting payment.
(I am not talking about a normal email confirmation of an order.)
These do not come from the seller, they are apparently generated automatically by PayPal.
I don't know what kind of effects come from accepting PayPal on a business web site like yours, but if it does anything similar, it would be very annoying.
I don't have any kind of grudge against them or anything, but it does seem clear that there continue to be some problems.
KA.

Almost every bank now offers their customers a VISA Checkcard as well as a debit card option. VISA Checkcards are accepted by all retailers just as a VISA would be but the money comes from your bank account (just as Paypals does) rather than going through VISA. I'd suggest you talk to your bank about getting such a card. Then you'd never need to use Paypal again.
On a side note, I also use FRPGames.com and they are not the only store having problems getting copies of HDv2. There is a major kink in the supply chain with that product.

I normally use Gamers Attic for sales. If you email Robin he can normally tell you if it's in stock or what's going on with the item.
The FLGS isn't so friend down here, bunch of d20 stuff, very lil hero (to my knowlege they still haven't gotten Champion's Battleground in yet).
As for PayPal, I use it on DAZ3D and Ebay and never had a problem with it, buying or selling. Now the post office handleing things..that's a different story altogether ;)

I've been talking to Alliance this week, and hopefully one of those kinks should be resolved shortly. dw

I tried to order it from Gamers Attic a few weeks ago and Robin gave the same story. I just ended up ordering it from Hero.

Just a note on the PayPal issue.
I make my living by selling on Ebay. I am Redbf and have 16,000+ feedback.
The reason you get so many emails is that many sellers use PayPal as their notification system for when an order ends. Thus you get an email, usually one or two, for every item you buy.
The problems I have heard with PayPal are:
1) Lack of Security: Actually I have only heard of them being hacked once or twice. If you keep you account routinely cleaned out you normally don't have a problem.
2) Errors. I have never heard of PayPal making any errors. Usually it is the person that has made an error or they have had an error in understanding.
3) Customer Refunds: As a seller that accepts PayPal this one always makes me nervous. It is, IMO, to easy for a customer to get their money back from PayPal. Although this does make me nervous I have never had a problem with it.

True... but, they do require you to meet certain credit & income requirements, just as a regular credit card does, or at least very similar. In my case, I have returned to school which makes my income quite insufficient for meeting such a qualification. Especially considering unfortunate credit problems of the past (hence my need to increase income potential by getting that Master's Degree, don'tch'a know:D )
So, Paypal makes a lot of sense to me & the rest of the "Financially-Challenged" of the world. I don't worry too much about the so-called problems with them. I keep very little cash in either the Payapl acct itself or the bank acct it has access to. I essentially just deposit what I will spend at any given time. The only problems that I've really heard about anyone having is when a Sellor is either from a 2cd/3rd world country or has recieved sizable payments from the same. Paypal has been known to be a bit anal-retentive about money transfers in those cases, I suppose out of fear for potential money-laundering issues. I have read of some of these folks having thier accts "frozen" for a period of time. Best option is just not to leave the $ there for long. (I seem to remember that Morrus of Enworld.org was one who got so bitten, but I could be wrong). People get understandably upset when they can't access thier $, but I can also understand that the world of International finance must be a pretty scary place for a company like Paypal.
