I just thought this page (http://google-fight.com/cgi-bin/compare.pl?q1=Hero+System&q2=d20&B1=Make+a+fight%21&compare=1&langue=us) might be of some interest to y'all. :D

Makes sense. D&D has hit points, but HERO has a block mechanic and 1d6RKA penetrating autofire x20 attacks. That'll whittle away any number of hitpoints.

More evidence... :D

I so nominated it for the hall of fame. As a die-hard Hackmaster fan, I really, really hate d20. As Im also a hardcore Hero fan, I REALLY dont like that system. Its too...watered down and obviously not made by gamers. Freakin Ha$bro...

I'm sorry, but you are all going to have to hear me out here: I have no strong opinions on any of this.

Monte's an interesting writer. Even when he's *dead wrong* or laughably off-base, he has a way of expressing his opinion in a way that is enjoyable to read.

His "Orc and Pie" is an absolute classic. Just don't suggest that level-biased systems have inherent, fatal flaws :D

go figure. Actually, this makes perfect sense.

Dogs hunt in packs. They use group tactics, so they win in group fights.

Cats are solitary hunters. They use solo tactics, so they win one-on-one fights.

In their funny challenges they have hotdog being beaten by hamburger. I submitted that they spell hotdog properly: hot dog. Strangely enough, this correction meant all the difference.

Ah, the battle of Good versus Neutrality... sound the Beige Alert, we're going somewhere near a battle.

Err... did you realize that one of the three principal designers of D&D3 (Monte Cook) used to be the HERO System line editor? Yea i did know that. But I never liked Monte's work all that much, but he great on a team. Its just his solo stuff that irks me. I dunno why either. It just seems silly or....uh... watered down... :)

It looks like we're on the right side; check this (http://www.googlefight.com/cgi-bin/compare.pl?q1=Superheroes&q2=Supervillians&B1=Make+a+fight%21&compare=1&langue=us) out.

SO, does this mean hero's more popular, or just that gamers spend a lot more time researching hero information, than they do d20?

My money's on it being the second.

I seriously doubt that more Hero research is done by us then by d20 players; the results are probably skewed because "Hero" is a more common word to non-gamers then "d20" is. Think about it, they have many many suplements and individual books, and a wider array of personal websites full of houserules to be searching for.
