To Steve or Darren or anyone thats in the "know"

What is your opinion of the RPG / GAMING (face to face table top games) as we sail on thru 2003??

From my viewpoint as a consumer with a couple of writing credits and who has retail GAme store experence...

Not to bad. I see my local shops always having people in them. WizKids toys sell well. My local Books a millon seems to movie a decent amount of d20 material. The related fiction books seem to be selling.

I do know that several books I wanted localy are hard to find.

The Farscape and buffy books are hard to find. THE LORD of the rings RPG books seem to be moving. D&D3e keeps cranking out product that seems to move at a regular pace.

I do think Deadlands has kinda come and gone. Shadowruns restart seems to me to be kinda slow. And I see a TON of White Wolfs stuff at the used books stores but I dont see anyone buying the new books.....

I am decently confident that the industry will do ok in '03

of course I have been dead wrong before

quote "Jeex who would wanna Titanic?? ya know the freaking ship sinks in the end....."

:D

You could ask a dozen people, and get a dozen different answers to this question. My record for prognostication's not among the best, so I ain't even tryin'. ;)

As long as the market for Hero products remains healthy, or better yet grows, I'll be happy. ;)

At our game/comic shop we have two people that have a HERO hold, sorta like a comic hold. One of everything that comes out, reserved.
Plus shelf sales, which while slow, are on par with our middle of the pack d20 stuff.

Well...I have a standing order with my FLGS for all HERO products that are released. I know they are ordering more than just what I'm buying and it's not staying on the shelves.

Me too, Once Hero (finally) released FREd, I had my FLGS hold anything that hero publishes. The only thing that I have not bought from them was Hero Designer and that was because I bought it online and downloaded it.

The Game Store that I frequent keeps in stock of just about everything and seems to be very profitable.

I am happy to see FREd apearing at more places, surprised me to find it on a little store downtown, of course I was looking for Star Hero at the time... that book is impossible to find!
