I posted this in the Player Finder List, but I thought it might go over here as well.
Although I awas able to talk my group into going to DunDraCon last year expressly so I could meet Steve & Co., my group absolutely hated it and we will go back to attanding Orccon in LA the same weekend this year. I was just wondering if there will be any other Herophiles in attendance.

I've been attending DundraCon for a number of years and I have to say that the # of games registered to run and the # of attendees have been decreasing year-over-year (at least the way it feels to me). There were few choices other than D&D, either scheduled or open. I actually had more fun attending the seminars and that's just wrong. (Well, others might disagree but I attend Cons to play games.)
I used to attend from east coast every year but I doubt that I will attend again next year.

There were more Hero games than any system other than D&D3, and Hero had more games scheduled than the third and fourth-most popular systems combined. For a HERO System player, I think DunDraCon is a great con! :)

By our count, there were 17 Hero games run at DDC, more than any other system except D&D. And that's just the formally registered games; there were plenty of others in Open Gaming and such, I believe. I've never before heard anyone complain that they couldn't find games to play in; if anything, the complaint tends to be that all the choices make it hard to pick! :)
The report I got was that attendance for DDC was up just a smidge this year. I've been attending for 10 years now, and I believe it's gone up, even if only slightly, pretty much every one of those ten years. When I started it was about a 1,500 people con. It's now in the 1,800+ range, I believe, though I haven't heard any final numbers yet.

You are correct. However, even Hero had only approximately 2-3 games per half day. (Trying to remember, but a few were cancelled and one was added, about 15 total.) A typical game has about 6 players. So, of the scheduled games, less than 20 people can play in a Hero game at any one time. I don't attend enough cons to know how this compare to the others. In any case, I wasn't comparing different cons, I was stating that I feel the choices have reduced over the years.
I may be off on the number of attendees though, I used the scientific method of how crowded I feel the hallways are. This is probably schewed by the reduction of LARP players.

I would agree that I've never felt that there were not enough choices - until this year. The problem wasn't so much getting into a game but having games that I want to get into. Admittedly, I chose to attend a few seminars paneled by Steve instead of playing. However, by attending the 2005 release schedule and the session on World Building, I couldn't sign up for a single Hero game on Sat. Those were great seminars though.

I won't belabor this point as I really could have been thrown off by the LARPers. I also don't know how the con counts single day attendees versus multiple day attendees.
