What books could I buy to get detailed write ups of present day weapons, equipment, and vehicles? I'm guessing Ultimate Vehicle covers vehicles, but if there are any other books with some I'd be interested in those too.

I think that Dark Champions will take care of that when it come out.

Dark Champions will have a big section on gear. Beyond that, you'll have to wait for The Ultimate Weapon, be it one volume or multiple volumes, which will cover the subject of weaponry in exhaustive detail. ;)
