A question for Steve, etc...
I found the character outlines from the first edition champions, scanned them in, and cleaned them up.
Would it be OK to post them or perhaps to send a zip file to Ben with all eight of them?:D

If you like the DC animated style characters go to the link below. Under the Templates section he has a number of DC animated outlines (just fill in the costumes) as well as some full color pictures you can trace in a drawing program.

I downloaded those 1982 character templates from the Free Stuff section: they look great!
I've always preferred the character sheets from the original 1st edition Champions (the 1981 edition, I think; the one with the full color, wrap-around cover, with Gargoyle on the back). Remember those? The illustrations were larger than those in the 1982 edition, and they had dashed lines around the head, wrists, etc. IMHO they looked much cooler. I think Mark Williams might have done them.
I still have an altered version of these original sheets: my GM added the hit location chart in place of the formulas for characteristics. Unfortunately, he had to re-size the character outlines when he altered the sheet, so the pictures are a little distorted.
Does anyone have the original sheets, and would you be willing to scan them?

The 1982 sheets don't have the dotted lines? Damnit, now i'm going to have to dig out my (very) old box set and check what sheets i have. (i have all my Champions stuff from the early Eighties in there.) If i have them, i'll try to get them scanned within the next week.

Yeah, the boxed set is from 1982, and it is 2nd edition Champions. 1st edition came out in 1981: a single 56-page book. If you've got a boxed set, it's got what I still think of as the "new" character sheets. (Jeez, I'm really NOT that old!)
When I was a kid, those character sheets were one of the most appealling features of Champions. I'm probably the leat artistic person alive (I can't even draw a straight line), but even I could add things to those character outlines to create an original costume, to give my character a visual identity that made it more real to me and my friends.
With today's computers, there are so many other illustration alternatives that character outlines on sheets probably are not necessary (and it was a lot easier to fit an illustration on a single-sided sheet when the character was only 200 points), but I think even today's younger players would find that an attractive feature of the game. Even if it's just a free download on the Web site (like the 1982 templates).
My personal bias tells me they'd like the 1981 templates even more. :)

Actually, I liked the 2nd Ed sheets better than the first. I hated the dotted lines :)
Now, a neat feature for HeroDesigner would to have those as standard picture files you could add to them when printing them out. Guess you could cut and paste them now.
