Here's another one for ya. A flaming elemental brick hero is being forced to rampage in the city as a diversion to a villian team breaking into the local diamond market. His family is being held hostage and will die if he doesn't cause blatant destruction in the city for 15 minutes, as planned. He won't tell the heroes why he's doing this, and he doesn't know what crime the villians have planned. Due to his partial elemental nature, he has a very high mental defense.

Hmm, this one's tough:
The Ibis -- My main attacks are mental and, as a flaming brick, I'll wager my sun bolts are useless too. If he won't talk I'll need to subdue him using my magical abilities. To contain the damage I'll want to whip up a sand storm with my Egyptian Magic. While he's distracted, I'll call on the power of the Nile and hope he follows comic-book logic and is succeptable/vulnetable to water attacks.
Once he's subdued, I'll use my ability to turn back the clock and see what brought this on and hope my other super-senses are enough to scope out the bad guys and bring them to justice.
The Blue Scarab -- After realizing my telepathic powers are a wasted effort, I'll have to try and wear him down. With my scarab agility (stop laughing), and likely speed advantage I'll need to keep ahead of him and plink away with my power ring interspaced with entangles and telekinesis to keep him off balance. After he's down, I'll use my psychometry to find out what made him go bonkers, then mind scan for the hostages, teleport to where they're being kept, and kick bad guy patootie.
Shrike -- First, make a joke about how I'm going to be fried chicken. Then swoop in and do my best for damage containment. He's a brick with (presumably) an energy blast which is one of Shrike's least favorite things. As the fastest thing in the air, I'll want to taunt him mercilessly while pelting him with eye beams and use my (probable) speed advantage to missile deflect now and again.
Assuming I win (and that's a big IF), I'll need to find out about the heist later and hope one of my more detective-oriented teammates figures out the connection and clues me in. Oh, or my contact in the paranormal crimes division. He's a smart guy.
Doctor Web -- I'm going to take a legendary beating. With any luck I can keep him distracted with webbing and get him to chase me to a less populated area. My best bet is going to use a lot of dodging and blocking (hey, I got spider strength) and hope I can last long enough for him to cool down. Maybe use the environment to my advantage in the form of fire-hydrants, extinguishers, etc...
After the fight, I learn about the heist, put two and two together, get five and go off to try and find the bad guys.
Snarl the Dinosaur Man -- Snarl beat stuffing out of flamy man. Then Snarl get pizza. <Grunt> Bright light. Must be energy blast. Villains get what they want. Snarl and another brick in a serious fight would turn downtown into a smoking crater at best. Well, assuming the big guy isn't distracted by a butterfuly or something and wanders off in the middle.
I like this scenario. Nice and devious.

Well, my EB Atom Splitter is pretty straight forward and doesn't fair well against bricks (good ED, low PD). If the brick can fly, I'm probably toast. If not, I'd stay out of range and hit him w/ my 4d6 NND (Defenese is ED force field/wall). As a low powered hero (270 points), I'd probably need to use my TeamWork skill to help wrap this up quickly. Then, I'd depend on my social skills (Seduction a.k.a. "Friendliness", Conversation, Persuasion) to find out what happened, else my Mentalist partner better roll good.

Once again with the crew:
Lone Star- Ah reckon Lone Star, if'n he recogonized the fella as a super hero, would try to talk some sense into him. If somehow he saw (With his telescopic X ray vision) that robbery going on, he might decided to grow, and use the flaming brick as a projectile against the criminals. If not, well, a nice baptism might take the fire and fight outta the fella. There a pond, or river around here? :)
Slammer- The distraction would work on Slammer. He might try to talk to the flaming Brick as well, but when that didn't work, he'd have no problem with slapping el flamo like a ping pong ball. Let's get ready to rumble!
Surge- The smartest of the lot, Surge also has access to local radio signals and if the police made a report on the market, he might realize this was a distraction. If the flaming brick seems to be the bigger threat to life, then that's what would have to go down first. Surge is a pretty powerful fellow, and with two crimes to fight, might cut loose so he could move on. He might even play tag... zipping from one fight to the next then back again if he was faster. His first target on the robbers would be to destroy their wheels/transport, "I'll come back for you in a sec." then back to the flaming guy...and back again. This might run the batteries down.
Wildcard- Little Wildcard could do against a flaming brick. Keep your distance, dodge (a lot), and fling cards at him of various sorts to see if they could hurt him/slow him down. Hit and run, and sneaky attacks would be best. The distraction would likely work, unless he got lucky (and he might); however, after that, he'd probably make a note to find these criminals.

This is an easy one:
I'd knock him out. If I get word of the diamond market being robbed in enough time it is a very easy win for me. I use tunnelling to get underneath the bad guys and use my Detect Precious Stones and follow them back to their base. I then knock them out, destroy their base and return the diamonds.

It would be just a case of hitting him for some of the heroes however...
The Demoness can read souls. She would see that his soul was in anguish and that he was a decent enough person.
She tells the Magician who travels back through time and observes what has brought him to this. He cannot interfere with what has already occurred however.
Then he and some of the others teleport in and surprise the villains holding the family hostage disarming booby traps if need be, as the Magician is one of the team gadgeteers.
Then they grab the villains and present all in front of the brick with fire powers.

The Stranger (Power Armored Vigilante) pound him flat... wouldn't solve the problem and then hunt down the villains after they murder his family (feeling guilty all the way).
Bushmaster. Take him down no matter what. Damn the consequences.
Mayday
Mar 14th, '03, 10:13 AM
Mayday: Zoom to the site of rampage on my motorcycle and engage from range. Armor Piercing Ego Attack, as Mayday was especially built to fight other mentalists. This will only make him angry however not drop him or even stun him without a good roll, so she'll rely on the motorcycle to keep distance between them and be ready to dodge. Alot.
Even when word comes about the diamond break-in over the police band, the fire hero is causing too much damage to be neglected, and possibly taking out major infrastructure. The store has insurance.
Wraithe: Arrive on motorcycle and engage. Preferably with a fire extinguisher or grabbing some heat resistant gloves ahead of time. Straight up melee fighting here using knowledge of any weaknesses PRIMUS is aware of. The difficulty is in taking him down without doing even more damage than he is by himself. IE fire plugs, popping one may be necessary but best if you dont have to.

Low Power:
Bolt calls the cops then maybe runs around trying to make sure no one gets hurt... because he doesn't like touching people on fire, someone else can deal with that nutjob.
High Power:
Blast him till he drops. Assuming I'm not aware of the other crime... it's a job well done. Pose for photo... time for lunch.
Marchwarden

Marchwarden, solo...let's pray he's met the brick or else makes a Reputation roll, despite being new in town. Otherwise, he'd probably get the wrong idea about the big flamy guy and follow a cry of "You cannot pass! Go back into Shadow!" with an overkill rain of arrows.
With the team... much better. Heartseeker's Saiminjutsu might not overcome the MD, but Defender's intuition powers might warn him that "this is not what it seems". If only we can establish communication (probably after subduing him), then Heartseeker would start throwing enough ninja smoke pots around to make the whole district look from a distance as if it were on fire. Defender would radio local emergency services, explain quickly, and persuade them to play along with the ruse. After that, a quick race to the scene of the kidnapping; our team's combined sensory, tracking ability would make it quite feasible to trail the kidnappers very quickly to where the hostages are kept. MW and HS are more than stealthy enough to make a successful intrusion without alerting whatever guards are around, Radar Rider could jam their communications and once the innocents are found and secured, Defender, Eternia and Radar Rider would sweep in and rapidly subdue any remaining threats. Then we'd attempt to ambush the returning villains - Radar Rider's powers, Defender's hacking and Heartseeker's ninja questioning methods (befuddling their minds with saiminjutsu) should allow us good odds of securing passwords and faking an all-clear signal.
assault
Mar 16th, '03, 03:18 PM
Assault would focus on containing the rampager (Protecting Innocents). He would be essentially unconcerned by the diamond theft (property crime - yawn).
After finding out what had happened, he would probably team up with the elemental brick to hunt down the villains, particularly if the elemental guy's family had been killed or injured, or if anyone was hurt during the diamond robbery.
Ideally, of course, he would have backup, which would make both containing the rampage and hunting down the villains easier. Assault is a brick - he likes having telekinetics and gadgeteer/detectives around.

Warp: Being protective of innocents, even if he knew about the robbery he'd prioritize dealing with the rampaging fire elemental first. Judicious use of Ranged Missile Deflection and Teleport, Useable As Attack to keep the brick from hurting others or causing too much damage.
As for neutralizing the brick himself, using gates to blast him with water and teleporting into the river should help. If after neutralizing him he tells about his family Warp will try to rescue them. Woe to the diamond thieves if they kill them. That might set off his enranged and get them all sliced up with razor sharp gate edges.
Spectrum: Tries to neutralize the brick as quickly as possible to prevent loss of civilian life. Tries an NND (Defense is Life Support: Safe Environment - High Radiation) first. That should most likely work.
Mystic: Casts a spell to Drain his fire powers and strength, and then finds out what caused the whole rampage. Then goes to rescue the family.
Proteus: Adapts himself so that he has tough armored scales and can spit venom (NND - Defense is Immunity to Neurotoxins). Hopefully that will knock out the brick.

Well if he won't tell Husky why he's doing it then Husky will simply kick his butt and feel no remorse for his decision. Kenneth will agonize over the event for days and try to figure out some kind of moitoring system to aid fellow supers in the future.
