foci and inate abilities

I have a character who has in an elemetal control a 8d6 energy blast. Would it be permissable by the rules if later he added a sword that gave him more power to his energy blast (like a focus or lense) and how would this look? I read that no two frameworks can be a +xd6 to another framework? Im trying to understand a valid way of signifying this, perhaps with linked? to an energy attack?

A Framework can't modify another Framework, but it would be permissible to have an ability, outside any Framework, that added to the EC slot, as discussed on 5E 203.
