View Full Version : Export template Characteristics question

I have a question about exporting a Champions character I have created. This character has several characteristics which are bought as powers with the "Only in Hero ID" limitation. This means that the character can have two values for his DEX, SPD, and CON. Is there any way that I can make an export template which will read which stats have a different CHA_VAL from their CHA_TOTAL? If they are different, I would like an output of "10/20" for the char's DEX, for example. I can modify the template easy enough to do that for every stat, but I don't want a bunch of "10/10" listings. As a temporary solution I just have a custom template that prints both values of the specific characteristics I need to show.

If this isn't possible now, I guess I have a request for Dan to make this possible. Some kind of IF_VAL_NOT_TOTAL option in the export templates. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Errr...it already does that.

DEX_TOTAL will display the total value for the characteristic.

In the case of a character with a straight 20 DEX (no split), it will show "20"

In the case of a character with 10 DEX + 10 DEX OIHID, it will show 10/20 (assuming the OIHID is bought as adding to the Secondary value).

Ah, Dan, I have the +10 DEX bought in a list with the other characteristic bonuses. The OIHID limitation is on the list as a whole, not on the individual characteristic powers. Would that make a difference?

The modifiers don't make any difference at all....what matters is how you buy the DEX (i.e. what level it is set to total into). You can put OIHID on your DEX and still have it total into your Primary value....in which case there will be no split....or not have it total in at all (again, no split).

The split only occurs if some of the DEX is bought as totaling into the Secondary value.

Yeah, that was it. I had it adding to Primary, not Seconday, values. My fault, request withdrawn. I will go fashion my own dunce hat now. :)

Thanks for the quick responses.
