This is probably the wrong place to ask this, but I'm looking for an administrator's answer.

Why can't I change by status from the default?

Some people seem to have this problem.

First, click 'Profile' (a button), then click 'Edit Profile' (second link from the left under the buttons and the message 'HERO Games Discussion Boards -> User Control Panel for [your name]', and see if the last entry under 'Optional Information' is 'Custom User Text'.

If you see that, you should be able to change it. If you don't, your best bet is probably to email Ben directly at benseeman@herogames.com.

From what I remember from the City of Heroes boards -- which use the same boards system as this one -- There has to be a minimum of 10 posts and (I think) 2-4 weeks after registering before the option appears. So, be patient...

I don't mind that I can't change my status right now. However, I do take umbrage at the term "incompetant normal" being stuck under my name. How about a less demeaning starter status?

Thanks,

I agree that the first one seems rude, until you place it in context, it is based on the different types of characters, I think it wuold be better to have based it on Base points instead of max points...

I understand the reference, of course, but it's not the best way to tag a newcomer, especially one who might not know the system.

My custom text field was not visible at the beginning...It mysteriously appeared after my 11th post...roughly a week after I registered.

I too understand the reasoning behind the status naming scheme, but I admit I was glad to be rid of the "incompetent" label...
