While I realise that Hero has their own supers and universe I was wondering why they haven't tried(or if they have what happened) to get ahold of the rights fo Marvel or D.C.' universe. The product hell that these properties have been condemned to is nothing short of an injustice.

I would love it if Hero got in on the Marvel market. I, honestly, feel that if they did something like that it would help this stupid RPG rift war in the market. I'm sure it could also be done with DC.

I hate walking into Borders and seeing hundreds of roleplaying books (with 0 HERO products I might add) and seeing nothing decent because companies are too busy trying to compete with one another to put out a decent product.

If HERO had Marvel or DC rights, it would totally revolutionize the game market because suddenly, you have a game system that lets you Officially play the X-Men or the JLA or whatever.

Maybe I'm in a bubble too.

Well, Marvel has its own system now.

DC is a bit reluctant to go into RPG's after the Mayfair Book of Magic debacle. Stormwatch and Authority being the notable exceptions to that rule.

(laugh) Even the Champions comic universe can't be used. No Icestar, Marksman, Rose, etc.

Malibu is part of DC and Ultraverse is part of Marvel.

That leaves the super-heroes from Image and Archie comics.

Yes, Archie Comics. Black Hood, Shield, Fox, Noman, Fly, Jaguar, Web.

Well, there is Freedom Force that might be up for grabs.

Anybody remember The Elementals? Classic stuff, when it was done by creator Bill Willingham (before Comico started churning out "Sex Specials" in a desperate attempt to stay in business). It had a unique concept (all supers were dead people who'd been brought back to life ... except for Thor) that'd be interesting to see adapted.

I always found it strangely appropriate that Veronica was the only one who didn't get to have superpowers.

I believe DC published Shield, Fly, Black Hood, Jaguar, the Comet, etc. under the imprint !mpact Comics back somewhere in the '91-'92 time frame. They may have reverted since then, of course.

Just out of curiosity, what was the 'Book of Magic' debacle ?

I don't know too much about it. All I know is that DC did NOT like the Book of Magic supplement for the Mayfair Game and after that book was released the Mayfair game stopped production.

How did WEG get the DC license then? Honestly, if DC were smart, they'd get a license to a superhero game and produce an in-house sourcebook for their universe ... plain and simple :)
