I'm trying to help a player flesh out a character. He's a manhunter/dark detective that started in the Silver Age, complete with Rogue's Gallery. When one of his Rogue's goes too far, he ends up killing her (this is going to be one of the events that heralds the Bronze Age in the campaign ala The Death of Gwen Stacy), and hangs up the cape. Needless to say he's going to come out of retirement for the campaign.

So I'm looking for ideas for this type of character. I've gone through all the typical themes (raptor, knight, bat, cat, etc.), and am drawing a blank. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Classic Silver age eh?
Hmm...

Well, animals are always good...
How about "Kingsnake", as it devours other snakes? (Viper should love him ;) )

Hornet, kind of a Spider-Man/Yellowjacket combo?

What about a supernatural/pulp twist?

The Shroud
The Mewler
Ghast
The Satyr
The Lurker
The Gimlet Gargoyle

How about a Mongoose - a quick and agile fighter of snakes? Especially good if the character is a smaller person. He might be a master of "mongoose style" martial arts (IIRC there's one written up in UMA).

Keep in mind that in the Silver Age, the tone of the stories was not terribly grim. Even the Batman became flashier and more gimmicky. A Mongoose might have a belt, wristbands etc. with various gadgets packed into individual stylized "fangs": throwing darts, various grenades, lockpicks, and the like.
