I have been posting my ideas about my managen magic system under the thread Gem/Focus Magic System under Fantasy Hero.

I have decided based on the interest it has generated to go ahead and published my world and its magic system on the web.

So I have two questions.
[list=1]
What good free add based web-hosing would you recommend? I don’t want an add box that you have fight like on geoshittys nor do I want pop adds. I want a nice add bar at the top/bottom.
What good $10/Month web-hosing would you recommend? I want something that will give me so much bandwidth then cut the sight off if it goes over the bandwidth. The one my friend likes will charge you like a cell phone if you go over and this I can’t risk, even if the risk is low

For Question #1, I would recommend Angelfire, except that they do throw in pop-up ads every so often.

I personally get around the pop-up ad problem by using a pop-up killer. The one I use is KillAd v0.11 (http://www.iomagic.org/fsc), which I have set to kill ANY new browser window unless I hold down the CTRL key to give the window permission to open. I literally need it on that setting, because some otherwise legitimate sites (such as MS Theme archives) would literally flood me with pop-ups otherwise.

I will let more knowledgeable people handle Question #2.

To question 1: I'd have to say I wouldn't be much help as you have already expressed a dislike for the host I used, Geocities.

To question 2: I quickly decided to pay for my Geocities. For $11.95 a month you get :
• Domain (e.g., www.your-name.com) • 50MB disk space
• 20GB of data transfer/month (bandwidth)
• 10 email accounts (e.g., you@your-name.com)
• 5 subdomains (e.g., music.your-name.com)

It is totally ad free and you can't even tell it's Geocities. You can also option to have it shut down if you exceed bandwidth.

There is a cheaper plan available, for $8.95 with the same features except the storage is 25 meg and the bandwidth is 10 GB and five E-mail accounts.

Hi, Zoth --

For a good, inexpensive hosting service, try www.pair.com. I've been with them for over a year now, with nary a problem (and boy, have I had problems with other services!) They have many different services to suit different levels of need.

Good luck,
Shelley

If you don't need ASP, try HostSave (www.hostsave.com).

If you want ASP support, try WinSave (www.winsave.com).
