OK, since the grand guru Acroyear is delayed for a bit, I'll give this a whirl...

One of my players wants to play a Silver Age manhunter/dark detective type who was tops in his day, but killed one of his Rogues, and hung up the cape. Events in the campaign will force him from retirement.

So I'm really trying to capture the Silver Age flavor, and went with kind of an Alex Toth type of look (The player is a huge fan of 60s H-B animation). I'm not sure on the name yet, but got a few good suggestions from Hermit & Lord Liaden (animal) and Kevin Scrivner (supernatural) from another thread. Please just use the poll to vote for the costume! Vote for the name via post if you'd like. Of course, suggestions are always welcome. Thanks in advance!

I like the first costume, but I think it would look better with the second's mask and chest emblem.

I like the Wraith pretty much all around, but do something with the chest emblem. Either a stylized skull (stylized to the point of not being menacing) or some other symbol all together like a crescent moon.

I voted for #3. I'm going to be difficult, though...

I'd like to see number 3 with the gray replaced with that purple color you're using. Purple remains a nice dark color for skulking and would be a distinctive color (assuming we're going for old HB style design... and want to be different than existing HB characters).

I'm not saying "for sure, for sure" but I'd like to see it. Black and purple also can impose a bit of majesty.

Gray and black is not very silver-age looking, imo (earlier, perhaps). This is also the reason I didnt pick #2. The boots and gloves matching the body suit tell me late 80's design. Now, I don't pretend to be an era expert... they are all a blur to me... but older characters tend to be bodysuit one color - accessories a second color with occasional total reversals at the waist area (like the Atom or Kid Flash).

The logo of #1 makes me think of Spawn... it's not the same logo, but it's close enough to draw the comparison for me. A second look, and that seems to be Bane's mask. I tend to only like to make those kinds of allusions if the character has some homage or basis in the character you get the impression from.

I like the colors for #1, too... but today I'm leaning in favor of the black :)

As for names, I like Wraith. Perhaps also consider other names. Crime Stalker, Night Wraith, Wraith Stalker, Night Huntsman...maybe those are more late GA than SA sounding, though.

I like #4 and #1 in the revisions. I think the purple looks good, myself... but I'm crazy that way. The gray doesn't say "silver age" to me, still.

I like the two designs for the Wraith, but the purple one's chest symbol isn't working for me. Maybe the chest sybmol for the purple and black one could be the white skull?

Funny enough, the white on the first Wraith/second Predator reminds me of that "mirror mirror" version of Space Ghost (I think Space Spectre was his name). His outfit was white where SG's was black, and Grey where it was white

I agree with Acroyear that the purple is a nice, underused color, and very appropriate for a Silver Age "darknight detective", so I'm partial to Number 4. I think I'd like to see it with the black mask from #1 insided the purple cowl (maybe I'm just another Space Ghost fan ;) ), but the eerie red eyes are more of a Bronze Age touch; I like 'em a lot, but IMHO they don't really have the period feel. However, I love the chest symbol on #1, the way that the head outline blends into the black of the costume's chest. I'd suggest changing the eyes of both the symbol and the mask to white, though.

on rev 1 give number 1 the 'purple treatment'. not as a final design, but as a option to consider.

f the revision, I like #4 and #1, perhaps #4 would work with the chest symbol of #2 even better

That is very cool, winterhawk: definitely has that "Batman via Hannah-Barbera" look. I'm glad your player approves; that was the point, after all. ;)

I'd offer just one minor suggestion: the low contrast of the purple-on-black of the actual chest symbol loses some of the definition of the animal head. Perhaps you might experiment with making the "disk" part of the symbol a lighter color, and see how your player feels. Given the present color scheme, white would be my first suggestion, but that might look too bright; any of the other colors you used in your earlier designs could work.

Not a biggy either way - it turned out very well. It's always nice when your gaming group has a good in-house artist. :)

The purple looks to dark to me, perhaps a shade lighter may wok better. Wither way, terrific stuff. Acroyear couldn't do any better, :) could he?

BTW, how goes the vote for a name? Any clear leader emerge yet, or good new suggestions? (I'll send more your way if you're still in the market.) I have to say that "Predator" has connotations more appropriate to a villain than a hero; I'm sure you could find something better.

Not really a lot of input on the name. The Wraith seems to be the most popular. I thought Predator with the thought of him 'preying upon crime', but am completely open to suggestions.

From winterhawk's earlier remarks, the player this is intended for is a fan of classic 1960's Hannah-Barbera supers cartoons, so a resemblance to Space Ghost is probably a plus. ;)

Just hope he doesn't get mistaken by Metallus! :eek:

It looks great. The light is definately the best so far. Just out of curiosity, is this just some photoshop work or do you have some other tool hidden somewhere that is letting you do this?

thigh high boots with 5' heels[orange][Phoenix's costume with different colors].
