Hola gang ... I could use some help naming a few races. I've been playing around with some races for my FH game and am stumped for a name of my (to use D&D terms) "Draconian" and "Genasi" races ... any suggestions?

Hmm... well, when it comes to naming original races in my fantasy games, I try to imagine what they would call themselves. I look for sounds that I think they'd be likely to make - often drawing from their closest parallels among real-world animals for nonhumanoids - and playing with those sounds until I find a combination I like. For example, for "draconian" types I would look to reptiles and lizards, preferably large ones like crocs and Komodo dragons. Most of their noises seem to be either either rumbles and roars, or hisses; so I'd play with guttural and sibilant sounds. Just off the top of my head, something like "Grathaak" or "Hreshti."
I'm afraid I don't know what the "Genasi" are, so I can't help much there. :o

When all else fails, you can set up a quick name generator by listing all consonants and rolling a d20 against it a few times, and all vowels (including Y) and rolling a d6 against it a few times, and then order to suit.
Even if you dont get a workable name, sometimes it can spark one for you.

I like to use a Latin translator and then fiddle with the results a bit. I find the latin word for the thing itself or something that describes it, and then mess with the spelling a bit or change a syllable here or there. It helps me come up with more realistic sounding names at least. They sound more like they're from a real language, because in a round-a-bout way, they are.

Yeah, I often do similar. Google has some language translation tools as well which come in handy.

Those are some darn fine names...and barring the Elv they evoke a nice connection to the archtype.

Trencher ... I like the suggestions ... but for the elemental race, I was looking for a group name (though I may have to snag some of the names for their sub-names) :D

Hallo Markdoc
Man bruker de fordelene man har ikke sant? Dessuten bruker jeg helst Norsk lydene navn i mine egne spill også. Ps: sjekk ut "the nisse" in lejendary jornyes og "the faen" fra diamond throne. Helt motsatt av hva det er, nisser er en slags onde goblin ting og faen'ene er ikke fulle av faen men en slag søte små feer. Jeg synes vi kan like gjerne lede dem i riktig retning.
Dessuten hvis det er bra nok for Tolkien så er det bra nok for meg.
Sketchpad: The problem with finding a name for the whole planetouched gang is that the Norwegian words for prime, element, elemental and essence etc.. derivitates from the latin words. I suggest Shisol (from chi-soul). or Grunn (Norwegian word for fundament but also reason, as if why someone did something), or just a very basic easy to say word like: Ferr, Khom, Jallm, Ihter, Enhdav and so on. I figure a race of half elements should have pretty quick and to the point names.
