I've thought of using Cardboard Heroes Contemporary minis but my order from a year ago still hasn't come in. Can anyone tell me what they use for miniatures?

Most commonly...
Heroclix (http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/)
Superfigs (http://www.fourcolorfigs.com/)

Though there are a few other "futuristic" miniature sets that lend well to the game.

For villains I use cardboard minis which I make myself from colored pictures. For heroes we use various pieces we have had for years that just about cover every superhero fig ever produced. One of my players has started fooling around with painting and resculpturing Heroclix, and he is getting pretty good at it, so we might be using those soon too.

I use standard D&D and Warhammer figs and modify them with an Exacto Knife as necessary.

Heroclix mostly with some supplementation with Superfigs and others. At the price I can't really offer any better suggestion unless you can draw your own.

Sorry to hear about your order.

Reaper Miniatures has just started a line of superhero minis based on a licence of Silver Age Sentinels. Sandra L. Garrity (for those familiar) is the lead sculpter for the line.

What Reaper was showing off at GAMA looked pretty good - they aren't 25mm but they're close. Reaper calls them 30mm - which makes them a little bit smaller then HeroClix, but larger then most of the "old" superhero minis (such as teh old Grenadier DC Heroes figs).

Yeh, I have the four that have been released. They're very true to the SAS characters, very well done.

A friend of mine is experimenting with printing out Hero Machine pictures on shrinky-dink plastic, coloring them and baking them down to scale. They glue nicely into the plastic bases with the slots in them that some miniature companies use.

(No, I don't know just what size he has to print at to get 25mm results. I think he got the idea off a Hero Machine e-list somewhere.)
