I've been in discussion with Scott and Kevin, owners of Arcane Comics in Ballard, about the possibility of hosting a Thursday Night Champions Game at their store. They already host Heroclix and a Shadowrun game, and I thought Champions in a comic shop was too great an idea to pass up.
So this is a tentative call for players. The game will start at 6 PM, go until 11 PM, and be hosted every Thursday night in Ballard. There will be a Start Up Fee of $5, and Game Fee of $1 per game per player to cover my costs (books, photocopies, and minatures). Still cheaper than any form of entertainment you care to name (unless you consider staring at walls entertaining).

#(*_&#$_@#&$!@$ It has to be on Thursdays. The gods hate me. Any chance at all for a different day, any day at all.

It might be possible to do it on Tuesday (but I'll miss Smallville...hence my preference for Thursday), but I believe the space is being used Wenseday, Monday and Friday, and I promised my girlfriend no gaming on the weekends, because she lives in Port Townsend and the weekend is the only time we get to see each other, and I live by the credo "Girls Before Gaming".
I can also talk to Scott and Kevin and see if it's possible to do two games on one night, but the space is somewhat limited, so I doubt that's feasible.

Tuesday would be perfect. I suspect you could even get a player to record Smallville for you. I know i'd do it if i had cable.

assuming the game flies and i'm in what tone/ guidelines are you thinking about. 4-colour, dark, an UNTIL team so the heros and better be well socialized, pulp?

For right now, assume it will be a 350pt Four Color game modelled after either The Avengers or the Fantastic Four. I am a big silver age fan.
But that is subject to change. I have an idea for a campaign I want to run in which everyone plays 150pt Heros of various backgrounds gathered together by some Mysterious Entity and given Magical Items that grant superpowers. So I might do that.
Or I kight even do a Lost VIPERS campaign, in which everyone plays VIPER Agents trapped in a Fantasy World. But probably not.

I might be up for this. Tuesday and thursday are both good for me, but alas the dollars are not right now, but could change soon. Let me know any format or genre changes. I am around a lot.

LOST VIPERS! LOST VIPERS! LOST VIPERS!
Well now that that's out of my system i can get to work on that 350 base super.
How would you want chars built in the magic item campaign? Do we build the items? If not do we set aside points or will the magic items simply add the the base points? ON reflection the-poof-you're-a-super campaign beats the lost vipers by a nose. Not that i'm saying the 4-colour game would bea bad idea or anything. I've always been a bit of a fan of the 4. It's clobbering time!

I've decided I'm going with the Four Color game, a homage campaign to the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby-John Romita era Avengers.
So go ahead and create a 350 pt super.

Well, maybe we can work something out, maybe you can take notes for me or something. I may end up waiving the fee, as Champions games usually aren't quite so hard on my pocketbook as, say, a Fantasy game.

I also have a copy machine you can have/use, as well as a laser printer Im not using, so you could certainly have your copies taken care of. I have some other alternative things to offer as well, send me an email at tunglashr@verizon.net and Ill propose them to you. Its just that I am not working so I am extremely cash poor. I am certainly willing to contribute. I have some great 4 color heroes too. I can provide minis and maps as well.

I like your style.
As I said in my post earlier, I can relate to your dedication to 'duty'. Heh, I thought I was the only one who obsessed over my game like that. Its refreshing to know that I'm not alone :)
Hey, if your table top game doesn't pan out, have you ever considered online gaming?
Its a different experence.

So any guidelines? House rules? Restricted powers/sfx/backgrounds? Suggestions? Should we set aside some pts for the HQ?

You're going to hate me, but I've decided to do it on Thursday. Sorry.

Hey, cool. A Champions game! I'm getting really tired of d20 clones. I'm interested in playing, if there's still room. I live on Capitol Hill and can make it on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
My name is Stuart, BTW. I've played Champions and Fantasy Hero since its 3rd edition, and I'm actually working on starting my own Champions of Seattle campaign where the PCs create themselves as normal humans, then role-play the acquisition of their powers, which they don't know beforehand. Been playing D&D for much of the past year here, and I'm getting tired of re-hashng the same old scenarios. I need to energy blast something!

I'll keep you in mind if we end up doing a Tuesday night game, and if your Thursdays clear up drop me a line.

Cool, thanks. It's prob for the best anyway. One of the charactors i was considering sailed a little close to wind with a couple of your strictures. The Pacifist <gadgeteer, total C vs. K> Used a small <+-20pt> vpp for "widgets". Little OAF " time for the Bat-'fill in the blank' robin" things so simulate that he usually has the gadget you need. Also I'm not so sure you would have liked the 'migrane gun' <ego attack plus int drain>.
"The New Rocketman" would have fit it though. Very simple design, very clean flying MA. Think the rocket man from the old filmreels. This is his grandson.
Oh well. If you'd like someone following but not in the game to bounce ideas off of i'm available.

Ah man, I totally wish you could play, I'd love to see that guy. "The Rocketeer" was one of my favorite comics of all time.

Same here. But thursdays are closed for a weekly doc's appointment. No dice.
I'll finish up "Rocketman" and post him in this thread when he's all together. Perhaps you will need an npc hero or someone for a drop in/new player. Or maybe another night will open up.
The "Rocketeer" was cool thought i must admit this char owes more to the old c-64 rocket ranger video game and the "Radar Men Of the Moon" serial.

I have a potential theme for a group of superheroes that nobody will probably like: we all name our heroes after songs from the 80s, and base our powers on that name. We could be a Duran Duran cover group during the day, and by night fight crime as "A View to a Kill" (a sniper with super long range EBs and telescopic vision), "The Reflex" (a medium brick with a high SPD and incredible reaction time), or "Save a Prayer" (a semidivine support character with high support/healing).
Feel free to add character ideas here. Our main enemy group could be a rogue hair metal band consisting of "Appetite for Destruction" (a brick with a huge detachable jaw HKA), "Dead or Alive" (an undead drummer who can Drain CON with his riffs and who can throw his drumsticks like shuriken), "Armageddon It" (has a non-ranged hole in the middle explosion EB), and their lead singer, "Dr. Feelgood" (can use mind control to send his enemies into spasms of euphoria).
Um. Or maybe this isn't the direction you're thinking of going.

You're going to make me regret inviting you, aren't you? :D
The basic theme of the campaign is "Avengers Assemble For The First Time", but once everyone is assembled we can discuss it. I can also do an X-Men sort of thing, and I'd LOVE to do a Fantastic Four style game. Suicide Squad, Teen Titans, New Warriors, we can base the campaign off any four color team concept.
But yeah, I'd like to stick to tried and true team concepts. But hey, if you can talk everyone else into playing a superpowered hair metal band, more power to you.

Excuse me i have to run away screaming now. Of course i knew some players who would jump at the idea. However they would want to play the metal band.
