View Full Version : Can I change the default defence for HKA etc?

I run a Fantasy Hero campaign. The great majority of killing attacks in my campaign, whether they be hand-to-hand or ranged, act against PD, with only a small minority acting against ED.
The default defence when creating a new attack power is ED. Is there any way I can swap them so that PD is shown as the default?

You can try changing the order in the template, and see if it takes. I'll try it in just a moment and get back to you.
*EDIT*
I tried it and as I guessed the order in the template doesn't matter. It will be alphabetical. Maybe Dan will allow it in version 2.

How things like the "Versus" field (with dropdown lists) seem to work is that they take the list of provided values (in this case, PD and ED), sort them in alphabetical order and then present the first value in the list as the default. Thus, when the list consists of PD and ED, it always sorts ED to the top and presents it as the default.
The best thing I can think of for you would be to edit the HKA and RKA containers in the template you want to use. Within each of these containers are <EXAMPLE>PD</EXAMPLE> and <EXAMPLE>ED</EXAMPLE>. If you remove <EXAMPLE>ED</EXAMPLE>, then only PD will be left making it the default. You would, of course, have to manually change "PD" to "ED" in the Versus field on the dialog in those rare cases where you might have a Killing Attack that works against ED.
I hope this makes sense to you. If not, post again and I will try to clarify.

Dan, it would be nice if you could specify a default value (other than the first alphabetical item) for a field that uses dropdown list.

Thanks for the input; I've followed the suggestion of removing the ED option which will have to do for the moment.
