GURPS -- I (very) sporadically run a
GURPS Traveller (http://www.mactyre.net/shelley/traveller) & a GURPS 1793 (http://www.mactyre.net/shelley/1793) game. I've been after someone to run Castle Falkenstein (GURPS or otherwise) for ages, with no luck so far.

Inomine (SP)
Amber Diceless (again only with a Good GM)

Oh, heavens! One of us is going to have to move! :)

CF is such a cool genre -- but I suppose it doesn't appeal to everyone. Although even Matthew (who groans if I suggest watching an Austen adaptation because he's already seen them all three times) read the rules and liked them. However, getting him to run it? That's another thread!

We just got done playing Unknown Armies (I was GMing that) and now we are playing Shadowrun. I believe that the next game up to bat is Mutants & Masterminds.

Over the past quarter century, I've probably played 80% of the games ever produced at least once (including, I believe, everything FGU every made, even during their "game a month" phase :D ).

Specifically, I like to seek out games I haven't played before at cons.

I own a huge number of games. Currently I am only active in a four-color Champions game.

I have played and run HackMaster and wish I had more time so I could continue in it. I prefer it over 3ed D&D. I have all of the Judge Dredd d20 stuff and would love to run a campaign of it as well. Star Wars d20 might be good too.

I am currently running a DND d20 game and an MnM supers game.

I have GMed (and on occasion played), in the past...
Champions (the most, 3rd, 4th, and 5th eds)
Fuzion aka Champions:tNM
Fantasy HERO
Vampire:tM
Traveller (i dont recall which one(s), i own most of them.)
Older DND 1e, no 2nd e that i will admit to. I still have my 1e AD&D books including an original Dieties on the shelf somewhere.

I have played in but not GMed:
Amber the DRPG
RollMaster
CyberPunk 2020

I own...

tons of stuff.

I've always been interested in the Castle Falkenstien genre.
Call of Cthulhu as well.
Warhammer FRP.
Deadlands
Paranioa

Though most games I'd prefer to run in the Hero system. I tend to like quirky world backgrounds .

Currently (all PBeM):

GURPS Traveller (a campaign that started in Rolemaster/Spacemaster, and has run on and off, mostly off, since 1985 or thereabouts)

MSH (Original)

An early Renaissance (1475 AD) campaign using (I think) Runequest.

And I'm working on a character for a Champions 5th campaign, low-powered supers in New Orleans.

I'm running a HERO campaign in the superheroic genre right now. We just closed down a high-powered 3D&D campaign, one of the players is gearing up to run another, more moderate-powered one beginning in May. Anymore, 2 games is all we can manage :D

Goddess, i wish I could. I loved the time that I spent in Oregon. Aside from the rain and overcast, it was really a nice place. Also, I bet that the housing prices there are much better than here in the San Francisco bay area.

Good luck in getting your husband to GM. I am always stuck running, as my Partner does not feel comfortable running. I am also kind of a genre fiend, in that I am always thinking of ways to creatively use my characters abilities (Usually in ways that aren't directly covered by the rules). So, I definately have a picture of "how" a game in a certain genre is to be run.

Falk just appeals to me as a kind of rules lite game. I think that the task resolution system needs work, as my experience with hit showed problems. Mostly when there was so many players that the task resolution deck was being constantly drained to nothing. I do like the way that the cards work with the skills. I just think that each person should have their own deck for resolution. With all cards going back into the deck after an encounter.

Tasha :)

PS, This was a hard thread. The only games that I currently play is a FH game and a 3rd ed D&D game (neither of which I am GM for).

I'm currently in a 4-color Champions campaign, but am on the verge of joining a 3E D&D group. Not the system I would've chosen, but it's the only way I'll get to join a fantasy game anytime soon.

It's much better than the Bay Area, but it's not bargain basement, either. (But I *really* love it here!)

I really love genre games. I love the intricacies of historical etiquette (I know the difference between a cut direct and a cut infernal and why dancing 3 times with someone is scandalous) and my biggest fault (so far as the players are concerned) in running historical games is that it's mostly social drama with the adventure thrown in. Hey, I *love* the interactions! :)

Did you ever play the old Judge Dread RPG? I've been wondering how the d20 Judge Dread worked out, the old one was great, the rules really seemed to work for the setting. I've been tempeted to get the d20 version but I can't picture the rules working very well for it. So is the d20 version worth it?

Currently I am playing in an occasional Twilight 2000 campaign.

I've been hinting I'd like to run a HERO game but so far were sticking with T2000.

Other games I've played that I would play in if I had the opportunity.

GURPS - Fantasy, Spec Ops, WW2, Space
Call of Cthulhu
Warhammer RPG
Runequest
Morrow Project
Aftermath (with some rules repairs)

I'm actually playng in a 4-color, weekly, Champions game -- a real shock to the system. I have not _played_ in like 7 years!

I'm running a 4-color, once a month game.

I plan to re-start my D&D game probably after 3.5 comes out in July.

Yep, I'm one of the heretics that likes HERO and d20 just fine. :p

I've played (and own) a LOT of different RPGs, but as to what I actually play/run (when I get the chance) it's mostly:

Amber Diceless
HERO System
...and a little d20:rolleyes:

Y'know, it's struck me as funny more than once: my two favorite RPGs in the world are rules/dice HEAVY (Hero) and rule-lite/diceless (Amber).

I guess I'm a man of extremes...

I've played oddles of games, but these days, besides HERO, I usually stick to:

Vampire: the Masquerade (table-top and LARP)
Mage: the Ascension
D&D 3E
Nobilis
GURPS (usu. post-apocalyptic or ancient Roman fantasy)
Ars Magica

Apr 5th, '03, 02:54 PM
In the past, I have been a player in the following game systems:

HERO System (predominantly Champions with some anime/mecha
campaigns thrown in for good measure)
GURPS (Cyberpunk, Horror, Space, Special Ops and Supers)
BattleTech
Mekton
Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0.

While I've never played the game before (much less run a
campaign
with the system), I did manage to get a copy of Heroes and
Heroines from Noble Knight Games this week, along with a
copy of Don't Look Back (Terror Is Never Far Behind).

God I wish I lived in a area where there was a greater concentration of players willing to commit to a game beyond one session. *slight rant*

I have played:
D&D 3e
AD&D 2e (hated it though, god awful system, IMO)
Marvel Super Heroes ('88 version)
Heroes Unlimited, Ninja's & Superspies, TMNT & Other Strangeness all together.
Earthdawn

Games I want to play:
Star Wars (either d6 or d20)
Exalted
HERO - Sci fi and Fantasy, Champions
Werewolf
Demon
Alternity (either StarDrive or Darkmatter)
Earthdawn (again...this game is fun)
D&D 3e (again but only as a player, not to run)

I have the systems for all these and I can't find a group to play with.

Champions - Modern
Champions - Far Future
Fudge -Fantasy
Shadowrun
Vampire
Werewolf
Mage
WoD: Crossover
Rolemaster
Spacemaster
Rolemaster Standard
Mythos
Nexus

In the distant past

Chill
Marvel Supers
DC Heros
Villians & Vigellanties
Aftermath
Fantasy Hero
GURPS Psionics
Call of Cthulu
Gangbusters
Boot Hill
Top Secret
Changeling

That's all I can recall off the top of my head

Apr 8th, '03, 08:03 AM
I currently run :
a 5 years old L5R campaign, using Fuzion (Sengoku)
Fading Suns, with Silhouette until now, Hero System for the next session
Prophecy (French fantasy game with a cool background and very nice system)

I play :
Lord Of The Ring
JB007 (WEG's game not dead !)
a very little bit of DBZ and Usagi Yojimbo

What do I plan ?
Terran Empire
Hârn Master 3rd Ed
Deadlands
XIXth century pulp
COPS (2030 californian cops game, french)

Monolith
Apr 8th, '03, 08:18 AM
Right now I am currently GMing a Champions Universe campaign, and I am playing in a Terran Empire campaign. The TE game was switched to from GURPS Traveller. I occasionally, and this is very rare, sit in on a D&D 3e campaign. I will play a wandering NPC who meets the players every so often.

In the past I have played:
V&V, Marvel Superheroes, and DC Heroes for the superhero genre.

Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Traveller, GURPS Traveller, Star Wars, and Star Trek for the scifi genre.

D&D (2e, 3e), MERP, and Fantasy Hero for the fantasy genre.

I have done numerous games as one-shots, or as only a mini 3-5 game campaign, but those things are generally the exception to the rule.

I currently own every superhero game published in the last 10 years (that I know of) and use them for inspiration and ideas in my Champions games. As far as recent material not from DOJ, I just purchased Traveller (d20) and the Farscape RPG, and am very much looking forward to the Babylon 5 material coming out from Mongoose.

Hey, how is T20? I'm contemplating picking that one up for m'self.

ShadowRaptor
Apr 8th, '03, 02:10 PM
T20 is okay, but the book is not well written as far as being organized, but if you don't mind just getting it for the sci-fi applications and then use some of them for a HERO game then its a good book to read. That said, if you intend to use it for d20 purposes alone, it's not that good. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3.

Nolgroth
Apr 8th, '03, 08:34 PM
Well considering that it has been six years or so since I've been in a regular game, not much. In my heyday, the list was ....

AD&D
Shadowrun
Robotech
Call of Cthulhu
Fantasy HERO
Werewolf ( a little)
Mage (a little)

Mostly, I enjoyed the settings for AD&D that were out and about. Ravenloft was my favorite, followed by Dark Sun and, for a little while, Forgotten Realms.

Recently I came across Ars Magica and I like the setting. It would be difficult to impossible to replicate the system, but I like some of the non-specific stuff like the passage of seasons in non-play time and the Mythic Europe setting. I also liked the 7th Sea setting. It might actually work better than Mythic Europe since I don't have to worry about changing established history. I'm looking forward to the HERO product Fantasy Europe. I hope that it gets moved from tentative to actual, even if it is just in the HERO Plus format.

Anyway, before this posts gets too lengthy, I better get going.

Currently:

Running a 4-Color Champions PBEM
Getting ready to start a MSH PBEM/BBS
Getting ready to start a 50+50 Fantasy Hero PBEM
Might restart playing a 4-Color Champs on OpenRPG, if the GM gets around to it. I keep sending him to the Tuit Store, but he keeps bringing back square ones...

In the Past:

LOTS of stuff either short run or one shot. Loved to dabble in games with my old F2F group, but haven't played F2F for years, aside from a great AmberCon a couple of years back.

Here are some that I've spent a lot of time with:

Amber DRPG, played and ran several PBEM and some F2F
Marvel Super Heroes, FASERIP system. Long-running campaign with rotating GMs in the late 80's
1st Edition AD&D off and on through the years
Top Secret SI
Some Ars Magica, 1st Ed., Some TMNT, Twilight 2000, Traveller, Space 1889, MechWarrior, and even Heroes Unlimited off and on.
Brief, unimpressed, playtest of SAS.

Some Games I'd Like to Try:

Mutants and Masterminds
3E DnD (What's this 3.5 stuff I keep hearing about?? I just got 3E books I haven't even used yet last year.)
BESM 2nd Edition (much better IMO than SAS)
Rune
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (heck, going to get it to read, may as well play it)
Shengoku
I'm sure I forgot a few.

Sorry man, D&D is now owned by a large corporate concern, and there was more money to be made.

The really irratating thing is that I really like 90% of the changes I have seen so far. I will probably buy it....

Aside HERO, I have Call of Cthulhu (which I'm currently playing), Stormbringer (never played but willing to), Traveller (an old favorite of mine), and the D&D Rules Cyclopedia (mostly for nostalgic reasons). I used to have dozens of games, but I made some extreme downsizing in my library and kept only the few ones which I may run a campaign one these days.

I'm not playing anything currently, but HERO is about the only RPG system I'd play. I'm interested in trying Silver Age Sentinels and a few other super hero systems, but more for comparison reasons: I don't own any rule books for other systems.

In the past, I've played a lot of TSR products: D&D (1st and 2nd edition), Boot Hill, Gamma World, Top Secret, Star Frontiers, Gangbusters, Marvel Super Heroes, maybe a few others. One of the hazards of growing up near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin: tons of TSR-only players.

I've also played Paranoia, Traveller, Toon (only once), Call of Cthulhu (ditto), and the 007 game (was it just "007"?).

Currently, I'm playing, not GM'ing, in three biweekly groups:

* Champions/HERO on Fridays
* D&D3e/M&M/SWd20/Other-d20 on Saturdays
* D&D3e on Mondays

Thankfully, my wife is cool with all of this. She even encouraged me to join the third group! :D

When I go to events like Chicago Game Day (http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49476), I try to sign up for games I don't get to play in my existing groups. So far, this has meant Call of Cthulhu d20 and d20 Modern.

As for what systems (besides the above) I have had the chance to play, like, ever:

AD&D1e
BD&D
Call of Cthulhu BRP
Fantasy Wargaming
Rolemaster
Spacemaster
Star Frontiers
Star Trek (FASA)
Tunnels & Trolls
Villains & Vigilantes

...and I've owned (but not played) quite a bit more. Tops on my list of systems I'd love to try are Alternity, Ars Magica, BESM, DragonQuest 2e, FUDGE, Runequest 2e, Silver Age Sentinels, and Unknown Armies.

Well, I like to say that I play ANYTHING. And I specialize in creating sucessful characters from other people's failed character concepts. :)

Anywho. Currently, I'm in 3 D&D games (all 3rd edition). D&D aside, in my time I have played:

Champions
Pendragon
Call of Cthulhu
Ars Magica
Lords of Creation
Gamma World
Vampire (anyone remember this one?)
Vampire: the Masquerade
Cynnibarr
RuneLord
Star Wars (d6)
Shadowrun

And I've created characters, only to have the game fall apart before we could play for:

Paranoia
Warhammer
Werewolf
Top Secret
RoleMaster
Traveller

I have GMed:

Tales of the Floating Vagabond
Champions

and I am yearning to play:

Mage
The Exaulted

death tribble
May 12th, '03, 04:03 AM
Champions
Cthulhu
D+D D20

Those are the ones that get done repeatedly

Have played Runequest, Tunnels and Trolls, Godlike, Traveller amongst others.

Board games. Cosmic Encounter, Settlers of Cataan, Both Buffy games, Diplomacy, Kingmaker and Judge Dredd again amongst others. Then almost all the CheapAss stuff. Kill Dr Lucky is highly recommended.

Card games. All the different sets of Chez Geek. And Nuclear War.

Oh boy, this is an interesting question.
I have this habit. If a new game system comes out, I have to buy it and test it out. The stranger the system the better. It's become my schtick. My local game store owner knows about this, so he'll order all kinds of stuff for me to play test so I can give him a write up on them. This way, when other customers ask him about such and such game, he can give them a fair answer. My current favorite is Dead Lands. Sorry Hero fans. Not that there's anything wrong with Hero. It's just that, for the genre, Dead Lands' system absolutly rocks! Besides, I'm really good a poker.

I'm running an online Fudge Supers game and (slowly) an online GURPS Supers game (both PBEM), and I occasionally run Fantasy Hero or Fudge Harry Potter face to face for my son and his friends.

Last regular face-to-face game I was in was probably 7 years ago, and it was Mage.

I thought Castle Falkenstein was an awesome game. I played it so often that I almost forgot how AD&D 2nd Edition worked. Unfortunately, my players couldn't get into the Victorian mindset, and the only regular player was a munchkin in the extreme.

Fortunately, more guys came into the group. They taught me the basics of HERO. I ran a Highlander game with an obscure system because I didn't know HERO yet.

I sometimes play D&D in the Forgotten Realms. It took me years to buy 3E. I still like 2E, though.

I liked the ICE products, Rolemaster and MERP. Hard to find players though. People didn't like all the charts.

I have GURPS and World of Darkness books, but I haven't played them, except for a game of VtM which we didn't finish.

Mostly we play Synnabarr and Quest of the Ancients. My QOA fighter can ALMOST beat the Gnome mage in a fight.

Just kidding.

We mostly play Rolemaster, with brief excursions into World of Darkness territory. For some cheap laughs we sometimes get out Heros Unlimited and make a party of random superheros then try to play. Last time my character could create a 10 foot field of darkness and turn into a small bird.
