Okay, Steve's noted that there are 14 example characters in 5ed Revised.
So...
Who are they?
Are they the Champions?
If not, are they characters that have been printed before?
I'll go out on a limb and say they are probably going to be multigenre to show how HERO does multigenre. Any more info that you can give me?

This is what I'd hope for, as the main rule book for HERO System is supposed to support every genre. Sets of character examples tied to a particular genre belong in the genre books, not in the main rulebook.

I was thinking they'd be the 14 characters from the HERO System Genre-By-Genre document, except that there are only 11 characters in it. Maybe they added three? (A Galactic Champion? A Mystic World character? A Vehicle? :) )

Good point. I'd forgotten about those!

I'm pretty sure that the Genre-By-Genre characters are going into 5ER. I also got the impression from Steve's earlier remarks that the character-building and combat examples from Sidekick will also be included. I believe the chargen example was HERO pulp icon Randal Irons, and that the combatants were Defender and Pulsar. Maybe those are the other three in the 14.

Hey hey, they're the monkeys, and people say they monkey around, but they're too busy singin', to put anybody down ...

They are:

--the 11 characters from the Genre By Genre chapter, -1 (the pulp example)
--Randall Irons, from the "example of how to create a character" that was in SK and is included in 5ER (hence no need for a similar character in GbG)
--Firebrand, from the example of how to use the character sheet (again, from SK)
--two additional supers for the "Example of Combat," which is carried over from SK. Since I had no intention of (a) including versions of Defender and Pulsar for the full rules that differ from other published versions, or (b) rewriting the "Example Of Combat" (those things are a royal pain to create), I just changed around names, special effects, and some powers to create Hardpoint and Maelstrom.

Sweet. Well, I guess I'll buy it now. :) Sure, I'll spend 50$ for 14 characters.

I think I am your target market.
Are you going to have Illos for the 14?

I don't think we got one specifically for Randall Irons or Firebrand, but the ones in the GbG chapter all have illos by John Grigni. I particularly like the one of Hardpoint; rarely have I had an artist so accurately read my mind and capture the mental picture I had of a character.
