multipower - ultra vs variable

Is there a way to get the checkbox for making a power in a multipower a variable one to come up when building the power. As it stands now, you have to go back into the slot to make it a variable/ultra.

No.

When you're first constructing the Power, it hasn't been added to the character sheet yet. It is not part of the character...which (obviously) means it is not part of a Multipower yet.

Only once you hit the "OK" button is the Power actually assigned to the character (making all the myriad recalculations to things like Characteristics, etc. that are required).
