I have recently uploaded a set of paper miniature stand-up figures that can be used in any setting but are primarily aimed at superhero and modern roleplaying games. They have been designed using HeroMachine and are based on 25mm gaming scale.

In the near future I am planning to complete and upload 25mm gaming 'counters' of law enforcement vehicles and equipment. The currently available files can be downloaded from Project Genesis (http://members.lycos.co.uk/genesisproject) on the Resources page. If you like them please leave feedback on my forum at Project Genesis Forum (http://marvelgenesis.proboards36.com/index.cgi) as it may encourage me to produce further freebies.

Tried to view the files and my Acrobat Reader 5 could not do so. Do I need version 6??

Liked the font company link on your page, very cool fonts, I may purchase from them.

I was able to open them nicely with acrobat reader 6.02 which is free from
Adobe Systems (http://www.adobe.com)

Apologies for the delay in responding!

Sure you can post a link to my site - you can even point a link direct to the Resources web page if it helps but I'd prefer no links to the files themselves. I am trying to encourage visitors to my site after all! :)

In fact if you go to my Links page you will find a banner I've created for just this purpose. If you need a half-size banner let me know. Thanks.

I have recently uploaded a set of 'standard' cars and military vehicle counters to the website. I'm currently working on two additional sets of paper counters - vans and 'uncommon' cars.

Cool Site Silverback!

Any intention of doing Font Characters similar to Greywolf's?

(B&W, but very easily scaled and you only print the ones you need.)

Well, there is S. John Ross' Sparks sets (at http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/sparks.htm), but you have to pay for most of them. He has a couple of sampler sets, though.

Hmm...I can't seem to access your site. All I get is a red page with the menu buttons on the left, but the actual pages never load, the center part of the screen just stays a blank red field. I am not having this experience with any other sites. I am using IE6.

Just ordered the Pulp font from Sparks and THEY TREATED ME VERY WELL; I strongly recommend ordereing from them!

Want to know how to make stand-up paper minis using Heromachine?

I've written this tutorial (http://members.lycos.co.uk/genesisproject/cardboard.html), hope you guys find it useful!

Very nice (the character sets also). My only quibble is with the yellow borders - that's a lot of yellow ink I'm cutting off and throwing away.

Nice looking stuff.

I can't seem to open the military vehicles file, though. Bad encrypt dictionary, it says.

This PDF is in the Acrobat 7 format. If you've tried with an earlier version of Reader this could be the source of the problem.

Okay, thanks. Once I get my regular computer set up, I'll check again.

I suppose I could download Reader 7 on the laptop, but somehow that seems too much like work right now.

I had the same issue.

Not meaning any offense to Silverback, and keeping all the text he placed on the borders, I printed one copy of each and re-scanned as jpeg and got rid of the yellow.

Though I'm not going to distribute his work, etc----
I've refered one of my players to his site for that sheet of Chevy Caprices!

As a number of vehicle counters and paper miniatures have already been made available for download - for your gaming requirements. The next project on the list is the production of a series of road and sidewalk (pavement) tiles that can be printed out and cut to shape. There are already half-a-dozen completed tiles and a number more to produce.

You can glimpse a preview of the finished product in the image below. Don't forget to check back for further updates.

Except of course - it has a square grid, rather than the more useful hex grid.

Starwolf
Oct 19th, '05, 01:05 AM
That is very cool! Would it be possible to get the graphic without the grid (I have a program that I use to overlay my own grids)? BTW the issue I had accessing your site seems to be an IE issue. I am able to access your site just fine with FireFox, but IE won't load the pages.... Another example of a fine Microsoft product.

I'd prefer grid-free too. Mainly because I don't think you need hex grids for Hero. You can use miniatures and a tape measure just as well - and it looks better :)

Unfortunately I don't have the webspace available for blank, hex and square versions of these files. If I were to sell them on RPGNow rather than make them free I could create multiple versions of the files as I would no longer have to worry about hosting them!

It's either a case of stick with the high quality, freebie work that I do or purchase something that suits your requirements more closely.

It's all good, SB!

Besides, I've been wanting to dust off my Car Wars for some time now..... :)

What Duke said....

I only mentioned without grids because I learned long ago that sometimes if you don't ask, you don't get. That said.... I really like and appreciate the excellent art work that you and others post. WHile I like to think I have a good imagination and am a passable GM, I freely acknowledge that artistically I am retarded.

Thanks for your hard work!

The 'beta' version of the Road Sections file can be found under the Projects section of the website. If you use the files and find them useful please consider leaving a PayPal donation!

I've been spending some time revamping the look of the road section tiles to produce something more 'realistic'. I'll probably end up making them available through RPGNow as a commercial product.

I just cut them out, leaving the base intact and use a gluestick to attach the upper sections to each other. Look fine and a lot less work than the official construction method described.
