Dan,
I'm all done making my Export Template and will include it here for you and anyone else to check out. It is as by the WG as I could possibly make it, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. I tested it with a few characters and it seems to be working well. The thing I'm most excited about is that it actually exports RTF without tables and such so there isn't much post editing required. Which brings me to my requests.

Could you create an IF_END tag? In other words if a power doesn't have END, I would like to not include a tab character.
Is there a way to not display anything on a line if a separator is used? By that, I mean not even a tab character.
When I create Martial Arts I start off with a list that looks like this: Martial Arts: <name>. Is it possible to have it preceed the "Martial Arts Header" line? How do I tell HD that I want a list italicized?
Is there a way to avoid the blank line when there isn't a category? In other words, if I don't have Perks I would not want a blank line in its place.
Can you create a Phases tag or reformat the SPD Notes so that there are two spaces after the colon?
How about a Primary Movement tag or property that could be used to show or not show a movement method in the movement block under the characteristics?
Any chance of getting a non-combat movement tag? I know that one is probably going to have to wait, but I thought I would ask :)
Normal Characteristic Maxima has 3 spaces after the colon
Any chance of adding a checkbox like you did for Active Points for the "Added to XXXX Value"?

That's all I have for you. If you read the comments in HD that I included with the template you will see why I'm asking about the above. Thanks again Dan you ROCK!! BTW, let me know how my template works. You will need to change the extension to .hde to use it. (That was for others who may not know ;) )

*EDIT* I have removed the template. It can be found in its updated state along with a macro here (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2394)

1. I will check to see what I can do.

2. Not at this point...what is displayed depends entirely on your template. HD doesn't insert anything other than the separator "text" (which is an empty string).

3. No.

4. That's entirely in the design of your template. If you include a line break between your perks section and the next, that line break will be preserved. Only the tags are removed by HD.

5. Done.

6. I'm not sure what you're talking about here....

7. That one's going to have to wait.

8. Many changes coming on that. Just wait ;)

9. Possible....but it may not happen right away. This is one which, again, I believe that the WG needs to change for. It is vital information about the Power when you're dealing with possible split values.

I appreciate that.
No prob. I'm trying to figure out what I'll need to do in my macro.
Ok. I'll have my macro move it. Any way to get a list to be italicized? Or was that a no to both parts? :)
Hmmm... I'll have to experiment with that one. I'm probably going to have to have the macro take care of that because I blank line is needed between each "category"
Thanks! Err... which one did you do?:)
What I'm trying to do is control whether a movement type will be shown. I asked Steve about the movement block and he said only include what is relavent to the character. Therefore, most characters won't need Swimming for instance. Along those same lines, are there Flight/Gliding/TP tags? If there was a way to indicate what movement types to display such as an If tag, than the Export template could display various movement types with little effort.
Cool. That one will have to be done by hand.
Very cool!
I'm curious about your statement here. Everytime I have asked Steve about modifying the WG he has been adament about his stance that it won't change. Then again, I'm pretty much no body, and you certainly have Steve's ear I would imagine. I'll just have the macro remove them for now.

Dan, thank you for all the help you have been giving me and others I appreciate it, and it is making my work creating characters for publication much easier. Any comments about my Export Template? Did it seem to be working as expected?

3. Use the IF_LIST tag. The formatting is up to you.

5. The second (inserted a space after the colon)

6. Including movement types is entirely up to you...it's part of the tag structure of the export template. Currently only Running, Swimming, and Leaping are supported. As we move onto v2, I will be including tags for all movement types.

9. I will talk to Steve about it when he gets back in town (he's out for the weekend). It's (of course) entirely up to him as to whether he changes the WG. This would be an addition to the WG rather than changing an existing rule, so he may be more amenable. It won't invalidate any existing publications.

I honestly haven't had a chance to check out the export template yet....you're far more knowledgable in the WG formatting than I am, so I'm trusting you to get it right for now ;)

3. I'm having a terrible time trying to get the IF_LIST tag to work. When I put it into the Export Template with nothing inside it, but format it to italic it just repeats with each new maneuver. If I move it just after an open tag, it just shows up there. I looked through other Export Templates, but couldn't find an example. I'm trying to make the entire list item like a name would be. I notice that the names are working fine though.
Is this something I have to put in the Character Templates? I don't look forward to that prospect. I guess I could create an entire set of WG Templates.

6. I'm looking forward to that! I made a note in my template.

9. That sounds great!

Fair enough.
