I don't know how many fans there are of console RPGs of the FF variety, but even those who don't play them should find the following list rather amusing. It's a list of the hidden rules that govern console RPG worlds.

One of the ones I'm tempted to put in a signature is rule 189:

Every problem in the universe can be solved by finding the right long-haired prettyboy and beating the crap out of him.

The flow of goods rule is the most obvious one to me--the town you start in always has the worst stuff, and the one at the end of your quest has the best stuff.
