Count 1 vote posted for Hero!

Yes, I have. Now I just need to find 3 other people... ;)

I voted as suggested, but I do have one little quibble with the guidelines. I can understanding wanting all the write-in votes to match in each catagory for solidarity's sake, but Star HERO was EASILY and VASTLY superior to Champions as a pure gaming suppliment. I really think Hero Games should be highlight nothing but its best if it's going to do a write-in campaign.

Likely they selected the one with the highest sales, and therefore the widest appeal, not to mention that "Champions" is the original flagship product of the company.

I did my part! If only I had duplication, then I could vote many times.

So when's the POSTY awards for the best and worst board posts of the year? ;)

Heading over now, although I can't guarantee a straight ticket vote (the supplement one being the sticker, I'll have to see what the competition is there).

Update: Voted!

You bet your sweet ass I voted.

What is the deadline, anyway? I know I can round up at least one other person to submit a vote.

I have to agree though, I hated to vote for Champions when I wasn't very happy with it, thought Star Hero was a much better choice.

I voted too.

I voted, both kids voted, my brother voted, even my wife voted!

We can do it! Gonna go recruit the brother in law and father in law next.

I, too, have done my part for HERO. I plan to ask the wife, my brother, and a few friends to vote as well.

I don't play many other RPGs, so in categories where HERO had no entries, I just voted for anything about zombies. That made the short fiction vote a difficult choice...

The deadline for voting, according to the origins site, is June 1, 2003.

I voted as well for Hero. ;)

I do have a question though - does anyone have the guidelines for what the elegibility requirements are for the Origins Awards? I was just curious...

I voted a few days ago! Darn my impulsiveness!

As I didn't yet know what the recommended voting was I Voted my heart. Pretty much the recommended list, except for Ninja Hero over Champions.

Steve Long
Apr 7th, '03, 02:04 PM
Thanx, guys! We really appreciate it.

The deadline, as someone noted, is June 1.

We chose Champions for the name recognition, the popularity of the product generally, the fact that it's our best-selling/flagship product, and so on. The truth is there are several books we've done that I think deserve an award -- but unfortunately splitting the vote only hurts us, so we chose to stick with the one we'd originally put on the nominations ballot.

Voted.

Now I have to fight the urge to use an alternate email account to vote again. We need to keep this as honest as possible.

I can understand the urge, but I definitely want to keep things honest. It's not really a "win" otherwise.

Fortunately, Hero fans seem to me to be quite honest; we've had almost no trouble with fraud re: the online store and such, and I know the former owners' experiences were identical in that regard.

I know the feeling -- I've kept my AOL account active for personal reasons, and if you count different screen names I could be 7 more people. Quite a crowd for a one bedroom apartment ;) .

Note that registering to vote includes a name and a real-world address. Unless you go about making up otherwise plausible names and addresses to go along with alternate email accounts, that's a decent counter-fraud measure right there.

I have voted. My wife, too.
By this weekend, I should be able to add four more.

Count one more confirmed vote for Hero Games! It's late so I'll have to get all my friends and the S.O. to vote during normal living hours. Let the ROUT begin!

Lovin' it!

One more vote for Hero Games... :D

With one tiny exception...

Had to do it... As much as I enjoy Digital Hero, it was up against Knights of the Dinner Table... I had to vote according to my (admittedly warped) conscience... :o

I'm gonna go hang my head in shame now... :(

I voted. Too bad I don't live in Chicago, or for that matter if I was dead in Chicago, I could then go vote again and again.

Hope Hero wins.

We didn't nominate the RK, nor include it in the write-in campaign, because under the rules a "gaming aid" has to apply to more than one system/game. Or at least so it has been explained to me. I'm not sure how that makes the Pocket Grimoires eligible, but c'est la vie.

Thanx again, everyone!

Voting for DOJ was a no brainer, and I've been gaming for, well, decades! I've never even heard some of those nominations! But I don't need to, because with FRed I can MAKE my their game match!:D

Count another vote here, working on a few more.

I also would have picked Star Hero above Champions...but splitting the vote = bad so I didn't.

I was out of town for most of yesterday, but as soon as I got up this morning I came to the HERO site specifically to find Steve's message about the write-in ballot and get my vote registered. I have my ballot filled out, and I'll be sending the confirmation a little later today. I'll be getting at least a couple of other people (including Colleen) involved as well.

Thta's nice, but why would Commander Vimes want to know the orbital velocity of Earth's Moon? He lives on the Discworld.

Yup. I've voted as well, and am 'rallying the troops' to gather more votes.

Y'know, with 47 (yes, *47*) valid, working email addresses & 3 valid, working real-world addresses, it's reeeeaaaal tempting to do the multiple-vote thing, but since Steve asked so nicely... :D

Not in the time that I've been a member of the Academy. While I can't say that it's never happened, when we pull it off it is definitely going to attract attention on that basis alone.

I voted yesterday, and will inform my players this Saturday when I see them next of the effort and see if they are willing to vote as well.

However, I must admit that Im a little non-plussed by the whole idea. Ive never heard of a yearly award that is a combination of popular and peer votes.

Ive always thought that HERO Games is pretty widely known, as CHAMPIONS if nothing else. Most players that Ive talked to have at least heard of it, even if they havent heard anything definitive about it.

How large is the Academy? Do their votes count one-for-one on equal footing as the public ballots?

I'm not sure of the size of the Academy. Academy members' votes count 3-for-1.

I, too, voted. If a d20 port of Call of Cthulhu sans background info counts as a "new" game, so does 5th Edition.

It was a close call for best supplement -- Champions vs. Silver Age Sentinels vs. Mutants and Masterminds. They're all good. Too bad we couldn't arrange a Hero/GOO/Green Ronin hero and villain smackdown. I'd like to see how the Atomic Brain fared against Doc Destroyer. ;)

Didn't recognize most of the nominees for other categories. Boy, am I out of the loop.

So did I.

I have voted for FREd as best game, Star Hero as best companion, and HM3 as best RPG.

Well, I voted. I even voted the party line for unity's sake.

I do NOT think Champions was the best supplement Hero produced this year, however.

Left to my own devices I would have voted for UMA or Star Hero.

I voted for a couple of things because they had really cool names, too.

I especially liked:

Sheep on the Borderlands
Sucking Vacuum

I voted - for Hero all the way!
I sent the voting link to my group, just for fairness. I'll recommend that they vote for Hero too, but one of their failings as a gaming group is that they don't all love Hero as much as they should!
