View Full Version : WWYCD?: The PRIMUS Auction

Wormhole
Nov 28th, '04, 02:01 PM
PRIMUS is holding its annual seized property auction to benefit the spouses and children of agents killed in the line duty. Since the agency recently raided a major VIPER nest in the area, there's a huge assortment choice stuff up for bids (no weapons or supergadgets since the auction is open to the general public). Anyone may bid on items by showing up in person, sending a proxy, or bidding online at the agency's website. Items available include:

Tons of furnature (couches, chairs, desks, tables, file cabinets, book shelves, lockers, bunkbeds from the barracks, the executive desk toys from the nestleaders office, etc.)
All the kitchenwares from the nest's canteen
Dozens of laptops and PCs(all the data that was on them has been downloaded and the hard drives erased)
Five Italian sports cars (formerly the property of the nestleader)
Several industial washing machines and dryers from the nest's laundry room
The nestleader's stereo system and personal library of classical music CDs
Pinball machines, arcade games, billard tables, and vending machines from the nest's recreation room.
An assortment of rare vintages from the nestleader's private stocks

Would your character show up to bid? Send a proxy to bid for them? Bid online? Be there incase any villains show up to cause trouble? Take no interest at all? WWYCD?

Twilight is there to make sure no villains show up, but mostly he's there to bid on the arcade games and pinball machines. He's just a teenager after all and he needs SOMETHING to hold his attention when the city is quiet and Lady Midnight won't let him hook up his PS2 in the lair. If he happens to have enough cash, he might try for one of the Ferraris.

Avalon is DEFINETLY trying for the one of the Ferraris and easily has the cash to afford it too. The stereo system is pretty nice too but she already has one, the Nest Leader's one might make a good Christmas gift for her little sister however. Naturally if supervillains show up, she will be more then happy to fight them off.

Microman II: Might visit the place to watch for trouble, though its a low priority task unless specific threats are known.

Diomedes: Doesn't bid, and suggests against any other Aegis members bidding. We have enough ex-VIPER stuff already, we don't need more problems.

Starguard: Wouldn't go unless asked.

Dr. Pain: Shows to buy the sports cars. Which he then proceeds to have fun totally trashing over the course of the next week. And then he sends the Nest Leader pictures, in prison. :D

Baron von Darien: The Baron does not need to buy at auction. A man of his wealth simply orders custom originals, directly from the most prestigious stores and brokers.

Style - Would quietly bid on pesonal items if anyone told him about it. There's some residual emotion in those items, maybe enogh to link some serious divinations.

Flesh Gordon - Would go along with other Beach Patrol members hoping to score some cheap new vehicles, get distracted by an attractive bidder, quietly attempt to hit on her for around half an hour, and be really surprised when she attacked him, revealing that she was in fact a member of Dragon Branch.

Legend - Would find the whole thing tragic, but might come along if asked to provide security.

Uncle Slam and Audra Blue would have no need for any of it.

Anthem could use a laptop. If they're dirt cheap she'd bid on one, because that's the only way she'll ever be able to afford one.

GM brainstorming...

If you have some way of dropping hints, maybe a set of news exerpts that the players get each session, include a mention that such an auction recently took place.

Then, a few (real) months later, or whenever it is convenient, a series of robberies take place, including several that include assault and/or murder.

What's going on? The nest leader, who wasn't captured during the raid, is "retrieving his belongings" from the various buyers.

Devilfire: (demon half) Doesn't care one way or another. (human half) For the chance to score a computer, stereo, and some new furnature for the apartment dirt cheap; Greg is so there. :D

I love this idea. My character would totally bid (but probably not outbid) for a command chair of one of those Megomania Supervillians (They have the coolest designs and all those neat buttons to rewire).

S.C.E.P.T.R.E.: as a "super" persona sponsored by PRIMUS, he would be there (in his Secret ID) as security. He would also bid on furniture, the 'puter stuff, and anything else that could then be donated to schools or the needy.

NightRay: would also bid for items that could be donated to charities.

Silhouette: would not attend. Without her inheritence, which VIPER has caused her not to have (they killed her parents, and she's assumed to be dead), she has no money to bid with.

Badger- Barring anything specific of interests would have no interests in bidding. And as it is doubtful there will be any types of devices that would be useful in his training to improve his abilities that would likely be a NO. Anyway, if there are no likely threats from moderate to high level enemies. He'll sit out this one.

Weasel- Any electronic equipment he could possibly integrate into his armor. He might go for.

Frosty Bob- "One of those cars would impress some ladies, I'm there"

Falcon predates both PRIMUS and VIPER (OK, the Unholy Order is around in her time ...) . Assuming we can pull another time travel stunt to get her there, she would be fascinated by the computers. Fortunately for the time stream, there's been enough changes in prices between 1938 and 2004 that she would be outbid easily -- she's rich, but bidding a whole $200 for a laptop? :nonp:

John Hawkshaw III (very wealthy) would probably stop by, buy anything that was'nt obviously greatly desired by someone else, (sometimes bidding his own price up) and donate anything that did not look "fun" and/or interesting to charities. Lots of that stuff would be useful to schools, etc.

Stalker would probably bid on a laptop, etc. He likes his 65 mustang Convertible just fine. (sure it leaks, etc., but...)
