I had a cool idea for a fantasy world.
No, I'm not going to share it. :p
(seriously... watch this space. I'll be back once I've put some pressure on myself. :))

Okay, okay. Stop watching the space.
Grim Tales is the core of an idea I had for a fantasy world:
Essentially, this is a fairytale world. But this not your "Disney" fairytale world. Oh no... this is the Grimm Fairytales world.
There is blood, and killin', and lots of gold and magic just lying about...
I'm 10% of the way through my 'noting' of items in the actual stories that are interesting. However, some general thoughts (before the Story Specifics):
1) Magic is powerful, but imperfect, and NOT useful for fighting (except for the RAREST of exceptions). There is always a way around it, and generally it will only affect someone when they do something to trigger it. Whether it be water that turns you into an animal, or flowers that, when broken, turn your brothers into crows, or a curse that turn you to stone when you reveal a prophecy... (or a horse that carries you off into the air when mounted, or a shirt that burns you alive)... magic is something you bring upon yourself.
2) Witches don't overtly do much magic.
1 and 2 mix (perhaps) as such: A Witch, Wizard, or Sorceror is, in fact, NOT a person with innate magic... but knowledge of how to invoke 'natural' magical effects.
3) To save time on the map thing, I will take a map of Europe and adjourning territories, turn it upside down, and mildly distort anything that looks familiar.
3b) This has the nifty side effect of making it easy to come up with a histry.
4) Tech generally extends to guns as the "high end".
5) PC's should probably be common folk with a few special things about them. No muscle bound fighters... just people with wits and maybe a little magic.
Thoughts?
