View Full Version : Server Stability

OK....with some rather perilously high credit card bills coming through, I have finally upgraded the memory on the server. We're now running at 3GB of RAM, which is looking to be plenty to support both this and the other sites that I host. 3GB RAM, 2 3.2GHz Xeon processors, plenty of hard drive space, and some decent software should make this server hum right along.
Things should be both (a)zippy and (b)stable from here on out.
I'll be keeping as close of an eye as possible on the performance for the next week or so to make sure that everything is going smoothly.
I may do some configuration tweaks as time permits, but you shouldn't see any noticable downtime from this....maybe 5 seconds per change....

On a related note....
Anyone looking for site hosting should contact me at their earliest convenience ;)
I try to keep my rates competitive (for mid-range hosting services)....and am now in dire need of bringing in some extra clientelle.....

Hmmm...what's your address again?
No reason, no reason. Are you leaving town anytime soon? What are your work hours?

Hehehe....address is easy enough to figure out.....but the server is located elsewhere. Also easy enough to figure out, if you're somewhat clever.
The insurance will cover the replacement of the hardware with (likely) superior hardware....and the backups are run daily and stored off-site.
The loss of your right arm, left knee, and first-born child will be slightly more difficult to replace, however.....

Just renewed my private site but I expect to need hosting in January for my business site. I know it don't help today but at least it is something. :)

Definitely!
Actually, January would be great timing -- it'll give me (and you, for that matter) a chance to ensure that everything is now working as it should on the server. So far, I'm showing things doing pretty swimmingly.....just need to keep a close eye on the stats for a while to see if there are any configuration changes needed (beyond what I made last night).
If you get a chance (and are interested), drop me a line and let me know what you're looking for in the way of hosting needs (what services you'll need, databases, shell access, etc.)
