Over the years, there have been a number of teams based in Baltimore. They have come together, fought crime for a few years, and then disbanded. The last team, however, met a much grimmer fate.
The Freedom Fighters formed in December, 1999, just before the turn of the millennium. They decided that they needed to make their debut as impressive as possible, so they trained together for three months until they were good and cocky and ready to go. They went after the Blood Red King, calling him out and daring him to fight them, and much to their chagrin, he did. The team never knew what hit them. In the aftermath, the Blood Red King razed much of the downtown before disappearing into the aether again.
A week later, among the ashes and the rubble, Baltimore buried the Freedom Fighters and cursed their names. Slowly the scars healed, and since that time, no team of superheroes have come forth to take on the mantle of a team for the city. There are a number of solo heroes, or two-hero partnerships, but no Baltimore team.
Until now...
In January of 2003, Mayor O'Malley established a task force to investigate bringing a new team into the city, or recruiting local talent. Their recommendation was to recruit a local team from among the solo heroes who were operating in the city. Local heroes were contacted, recruited, and five were hired. The Baltimore New Guard were formed.

I'm looking for three new players to help me give a fresh start to this PBeM campaign. Everything's ready to go and all I need are some excited role-players to join the three existing ones.
Rock Bottom, Tao, and Thunderfist are the existing characters. I'll consider any submission archetype that enhances this backbone of bricks: pure energy blaster, mentalist, mystic, shapeshifter, scientist gadgeteer, speedster, or whatever else you can think of. All submissions must follow these guidelines:
1. Backgrounds only, please, no character sheets at this time. Once I make my selections I'll ask for sheets.
2. All characters submitted must be able to work within a government team format. No ex-cons, lone wolves, or antisocial personalities, please.
2. All submissions must be in Word or text format. No email-only submissions.
3. All submissions must be sent to both my jscalera@comcast.net and john.scalera@usclearing.com email addys.
The submission deadline is noon on Saturday, January 22.
That is all.
