Currently in the Focus Limitation, you can select its Mobility (and Arrangement), Breakability, Expendability, and whether or not it requires multiple pieces. However, Applicability (Personal and Universal) from 5th Ed Rev, pp. 295, is not there.
Granted, it doesn't appear the being Personal or Universal changes the cost of the Focus, but I'd still like to be able to "click the box" and have that bit of info show up in the printed description.
Thanks
Richard
Unless I'm missing it, of course....

Not necessary. The following is the general gist of a conversation that Steve and I had on the subject a while back:
The applicability does not affect the cost and is not part of the WG writeup for Focus as it should be obvious from the Focus' description. In the cases that it is not, you can note it in the Notes field for the Power or in the Comments field for the Focus Limitation itself.

Richard,
If this annoys you, you can create a custom template with the following changes to the Focus section under Modifiers:
< MODIFIERS>
< MODIFIER XMLID="FOCUS" DISPLAY="Focus" EXCLUSIVE="Yes">
< OPTION XMLID="IIF" DISPLAY="IIF" BASECOST="-.25"/>
< OPTION XMLID="IAF" DISPLAY="IAF" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OIF" DISPLAY="OIF" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OAF" DISPLAY="OAF" BASECOST="-1"/>
< OPTION XMLID="IIFPERSONAL" DISPLAY="IIF, Personal" BASECOST="-.25"/>
< OPTION XMLID="IAFPERSONAL" DISPLAY="IAF, Personal" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OIFPERSONAL" DISPLAY="OIF, Personal" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OAFPERSONAL" DISPLAY="OAF, Personal" BASECOST="-1"/>
< OPTION XMLID="IIFUNIVERSAL" DISPLAY="IIF, Universal" BASECOST="-.25"/>
< OPTION XMLID="IAFUNIVERSAL" DISPLAY="IAF, Universal" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OIFUNIVERSAL" DISPLAY="OIF, Universal" BASECOST="-.5"/>
< OPTION XMLID="OAFUNIVERSAL" DISPLAY="OAF, Universal" BASECOST="-1"/>
Bold lines are what I added.
Basically, what this gets you is additional selections under the Focus Limitation Options when you create a character.
You can select, for example, " OAF, Personal " and it will show up that way on the character sheet.
I understand that this is Steve's decision, not Dan's, so I hope Dan won't see this as an attempt to pick a fight with him, because it isn't, but this makes no sense to me whatsoever.
By the same thinking given above, why not just say "Focus -1/2".
Then, somewhere on the sheet, you could provide a "description" that says:
"It is obvious that Zelnar's Flight Power comes from his Ring, even without a Perception Roll.
However, the Ring can only be removed by someone taking one Turn, Out of Combat, to remove it. It cannot be removed if Zelnar is struggling or resisting."
Seems a bit clunky, doesn't it?
However, having to write:
"Only Zelnar can use the Flight Ring. No other character can use it, even if they take it away from him."
somehow makes more sense?
We have an easier way, built into the game, to refer to a Focus that is Obvious and Inaccessible.
So we do that, rather than relying on describing it.
We also have an easier way, that used to be built into the game, to describe a Focus that is Personal, but it seems that we no longer do that.
Is it a big deal?
No.
Is it annoying?
Yes.
I think that from now on I am going to refer to Personal Foci as Hasturs.
You know, something you have a name for that you don't dare speak? :hush:
Sorry, don't mean to rant, guess I just have some "personal" issues I need to deal with.
(Ooops. I said a bad word. :tsk: )
:D
KA.
P.S. Dan, again, please understand that this is not directed against you.
I know that a lot of people rail at you about their pet peeves with the system, when you are just the one who implements it via the chargen.
I am not doing that, even though this is your area of the boards.
This is just where it happened to come up, so this is where I responded to it.
