I like the change. It looks good. So far the changes are very nice.

Hehehe....as I said in the other thread, there are a number of new bits that have been added in/adjusted (apart from bug fixes, security patches and the like).
Have fun finding them all! ;)

Hmm. I'm hoping one of the changes is when the boards update the all threads read.
I'm not sure if the time a post was recorded may of changed format.
Though so far I hadn't seen any changes before seeing this thread. But then I just got my first cup of coffee

What is Rep Power?
Super Squirrel
Feb 26th, '05, 12:48 PM
I believe it's how many points you give someone when you rep them but I could be wrong.
Give me rep and I'll tell you if it is correct. ;)

I will settle this - both of you give me a REP bump and I will make sure that everything is correct.

At least now I know that I have SOME rep power (not much, mind you,but better than nuthin').
I'm still amused/annoyed that there is no easy to find area on the site that explains Rep.... its the great secret club of the Hero Boards.
That and if I really want more I guess I'll either need to start posting more thought out statements, full of wisdom and gret ideas...
Or finish my girls dark elf costume and post more pics of her on the NGD

I am posting this to see what my rep power is. Meaning that I am too lazy to go and look for one of my previous posts.

How is "Rep Power" determined? Is it some intrinsic formula between post count, green boxes, post per day average, and/or length on board? Or something similar?

Your "Rep Power" is determined by the following:
For every 365 days that you have been registered: +1 Rep Power
For every 1000 posts that you make: +1 Rep Power
For every 100 rep that you have: +1 Rep Power

Do we start with 0 Rep Power, or 1?
But thanks for the formula, Simon!

You start with 0 and remain that way until you have at least 50 posts.

OMG! This is so horrible! First Simon kicks my dog, then this. What's next? Setting a bus load of nuns on fire? If these forums arent set back to exactly the way they were 20 years ago, and Herogames doesn't make Rest Home Hero, I'm gonna start playing Hybrid instead.

It actually doesn't come up all that often -- most people just don't care....and it's far easier to just deal with the FAQ that is provided by the makers of vBulletin than to write my own....
...besides, you really don't wnat to see my FAQ. ;)

The nuns were delicious. Crunchy on the outside, with a soft, nougaty center.
As for the puppy....too gamey for my tastes. I threw most of it out.
And what does "rep power" do for you?

It means that you are a powerful individual. One who has attained enlightenment and should be worshipped by those less fortunate (or less powerful, which is much the same thing).
Or it means nothing.
Your pick.

In my case, the more I have, the more I figure I'm doing something right.

Rep power is the number of reputation points you give to someone when you give them rep (by clicking the the scales in the upper right hand corner of a post). For every 100 points of rep you get an additional little green box in the upper right hand part of each of your posts (having started with 1 box).

Not exactly; it seems to top out at 11 boxes (the initial 1 + 10 more), of which it seems as if a max of 6 can be bright green. If the bright green counts as "two" instead of "one", that would mean a max rep count (via boxes) of 17 (11 + 6).
If that's the case, many of the people on the first page (when you sort the member list by rep) don't have enought boxes for the amount of rep they have. That's why I think it tops out at 11.
:nonp:
Hey...
:D
Our 'rep' boxes go to 11 !!!!

I hadn't noticed that. But then again, I only have 534 rep, so I'm nowhere near that point. :D

How much does participating in NGD contribute to gaining rep? Not officially, I mean... How much rep giveaway takes place in NGD?

Just to give a small example: me. (Which you can take to prove that I'm egotistical nightmare, since I love talking about myself so much :) ) I didn't have any REP before I started posting NGD. Now I have 132 after posting only *three* times there. They give REP rather freely there.
edited to correct REP points earned

The bulk of my rep has come from posting pics to the "Pics that might be a Super Team" and the "Catsuit" thread, or from posting various characters and/or adaptations. If I didn't post in the NGD, I'd have far less. OTOH, most of what I post in the NGD is gaming-related (see the aforementioned Pics/Super team thread).

Well, keep in mind that there are almost twice as many posts on NGD as there are on all of the other boards added together.
That being said, the vast majority of my rep has come from posts on NGD. Which makes sense, since the vast majority of my posts have been on NGD.

The bulk of my rep has come from the NGD as well; but I've also received a fair amount from my posts to the Star Hero and Fantasy Hero boards, as well as a few snippets ( :) ) from the Hero System and Champions forums.

About 7/8 of my rep comes from the NGD. "Rep Power" I think is the number of rep points that you give to someone else when you REP them. Naturally it's based on how much you get repped.

Naturally it's based on how much you get repped.Only partially. It's also based on how many posts you've made, and how long you've belonged to the boards.

I've had occasion to ponder why it was linked to number of posts made, instead of the more obvious (to me) variable of 'number of reputation grants made'. Perhaps due to technical considerations?
