Looking for 2-3 solid HEROs players in the San Diego, CA area; specifically we play out of Mira Mesa.
Multi-genre players with strong roleplaying skills preferred.
We usually play on Saturdays for 6 to 10 hours a session, approx. 3 out of every 4 weeks.
Looking forward to meeting with any interested parties......

I'm starting to suspect that no one wants to play with us.

I noticed both of you guys listed on RPGRegistry, but it looked like you guys hadn't logged in ther for awhile.
I am seriously looking for a good HERO game to get into. I live in Carlsbad, but can drive just about anywhere.
I haven't played past 4th edition, but can pick it up the newest and learn very quickly.
I have been gaming off and on for 25+ years, both as a GM and a player, but I was into wargaming for the last few years. Now that that is out of my system, I am finding that I am seriuosly jonesing for some creative, mature roleplaying. I have come to really like the HERO system, because I feel that it allows YOU to control the character, not some arbitrary rules set. And that is what roleplaying is all about, isn't it?
So, if you guys are still looking for a new person to add to your group, drop me a line.

Thats cool; do you play out of Game Cove? I used to live in Oceanside and played out of Game Towne back in the day before it shut down, and then at Game Cove after Pete bought out Game Towne and opened it.
We may even have met; I used to play Warhammer 40k and Mordheim when I lived up there. ;)
As it happens we had 2 people respond off-line and they are starting this weekend. However, the more the merrier.
If you join us and we retain all of our current players, that would make for a group of 8 counting the GM, which is a bit larger than I like to deal with, but with summer coming on I imagine some of the current players will bow out until fall (3 of the group are college students), and one of them is for sure unavailable for a little over a month at the least. So it should all work out.
Ill send you some contact info via email. Im the usual GM, but am currently 1 session into a hiatus as a player. WilyQuixote is currently GMing. We are playing a Champions Universe campaign pretty much by-the-book. 5th edition CU is tres cool ;) The characters are up to about 400 points now. The roster is comprised of the following:

Some of the character write ups are out of date, but the basic concepts are there.

Hey, If I ever visit my Aunt, I'll see if we can get together. (granted, I've been saying I'll be down there for nearly 10 years...)

San Diego is a paradise on Earth, or at least thats what the City Council keeps telling us
Visit anytime. If nothing else, the weather is worth the trip ;)

Oh it's not that I wouldn't. Actually, I happen tpo like cloudy, rainy weather. (Marin County and then Portland...)
Small chance in July. Depends on current contract, $$$, and other unrealted factors. Hmm, maybe a Champions tour! OK, now I know I'm drunk and need to sleep. not that this idea couldn't work, other factors at work as well...

I just moved to Carlsbad from the La Mesa area, so I don't know any of the game stores up here. When I was wargaming, I played "real" wargames like ASL and Totaler Krieg :)
Sounds like a big group. I don't want to crowd anyone out, so I will contact the GM from the email you sent me and see what we can work out. I will need to pick up 5th Ed and read some to get up to speed. I haven't made a character in HERO for several years, but it is starting to come back to me. I have some ideas of characters floating around in the old noggin, just waiting to get out.
Hopefully I can join you guys soon.
Thanks for the info. And to lemming: don't just visit San Diego, please spend your hard earned money in our beautiful city! We need some way to pay for everything here...

Actually I am a little out of the loop here. I didn't hear from WilyQuixote, so I pursued another avenue of gaming. I have a small D&D group starting up soon, so I doubt I would be able to have much more free time than that. Thanks for the consideration though, and if things don't work out here, I may get back in touch.

Hmm, thats too bad. Well, if the D&D game doesnt work out, drop us a line. We have a fairly dynamic membership, so its even possible you could play a guest hero or villain if you have time permiting.

We are currently playing Supers (Champions Universe). We currently have 3 active players & 1 GM, with 2 new players starting the week after next, and 3 more players on hiatus for the summer.
Email me your info (availability & preferred play style) and we'll discuss whether the group is a good fit for you and vice versa.
Thanx!

Yo!
I'm a longtime hero gamer (since the 80s) in Mira Mesa. We've had a group for about 3 years but its falling apart (people moving away for jobs, one just had third child, etc).
I prefer long term and heavy on character, but am known to get lighthearted at times. I can bring along 1-3 more gamers depending on system, preferences, etc. I have extensive experience in Champs, sci-fi, fantasy, and other random stuff (horror, toon hero, victorian, wild west).
Availability varies, usually fri sat or sun will work for me.

I am starting a Dark Fantasy game before the end of August. It will be held either at my home on Mira Mesa or my workplace on Miramar. If any of you SD natives are interested I am sure we can find room for ya.
Epic, Dark, Realistic, 75/75, detailed homegrown magic system very similar to the sample 'arts arcane' system in the FH book.
If you're local and interested mail me at ulryk@ulryk.com

San Diego is the center of World Culture. Everything revolves around San Diego. Its the only place to live if you want to be anybody in this world.
Well, not really, but its a nice place to live :D

Sounds great, we've currently got five including me. A couple of the team are feeling the crunch of new responsibilities. I've gotten a reply to the email address, so that's another player. I'm open to a group as large as 7 (6 PCs/GM) email me and let's see what we can arrange.

Dang, who knew there were so many Hero Gamers here in Mira Mesa. Maybe it's an indicator that HERO is spreading and taking over the world? Sadly, probably not.
I gamed with Shrike's group Sat (and therefore know his secret ID!!! HAHAHHA), 7 people total (inc. GM) and a spectacular time was had by all. Then apparently there's this FH group mentioned above. I also know at least a couple other local HERO players who were in the group I was in that fell apart recently...
Amazing. I can't remember the last time there were more HERO players around than there was time for me to game!
Great sign, though. Maybe Steve and them will make money and publish tons of books! Go team!
