Greetings, fellow Legionaires!

I understand that Steve Long will be attending DieCon with us, thanks to the request of fellow gamer ScubaHero.

I have not seen any coordination by any of my other fellow gamers on plans for running some games in concert with each other or otherwise trying to coordinate events so, in that absence, I am about to write up my game descriptions and pass them off to the Con Director, Jon Bancroft.

He told me that Steve was signed up for Friday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday morning games.

I have requested to have my 3 games scheduled directly after Steve's sessions so as to give folks the chance to hit BOTH sessions (and also to give myself a faint chance of getting in on at least ONE of Steve's games!) :)

If anyone has any suggestions or comments before I finalize my game descriptions and plans (probably Sunday evening), please let me know. I'm always open to ideas, especially if it helps make a better game.

I am currently thinking of mixing up my games a bit, running only one or two Champs games instead of all 3. I'm a bit conflicted on which genre(s) to concentrate on otherwise, though. Fantasy Hero would normally be a good bet but I've not had good response here in the past on that. Star Hero has fared slightly better but not, pardon the pun, cosmically so. A modern agent-level game, ala "Danger International" style might be an idea, since I usually have fun with those. I probably won't do Dark Champs but that is a thought as well.

Again, any thoughts or comments are not only appreciated, I'm really trying to solicit any that I can at this point.

Thanks!

My current thinking is to mix up genres as well. I'll probably run one Champions, one Dark Champions, and one FH. But we'll see. ;)

You know...a Horror HERO game would be kind of fun, too. But I don't know what kind of response it would get.

From my perspective, it's always a blast to throw a bunch of "meddling kids" in the middle of some sort of supernatural hijinks and see what happens. :) With or without "Scooby Snacks", even!

Unfortunately, the appeal for a game in the style of "Chill", "Call of Cthulu", and that sort doesn't seem as high as other genres. Maybe if I put it in an "Indiana Jones" sort of setting? Hmmm. Dunno. I'll have to think on it.

I think if you describe it right in the title/blurb, you'll get plenty of interest. A "pure" Horror game might not work for a con, but Scooby Hijinks definitely would.

With or without "Scooby Snacks", even!SCUBA Snacks. Definitely, SCUBA Snacks. :D

I would say "GMTA" but I'll stop short at adding myself to your league. All morning long I had been thinking about taking that angle myself - after all, I'd join a game with that sort of hook to it. :)

"Jinkies!"

The right touch of humor and odd-ball events can certainly set a game apart.

No doubt, SCUBA Hero. No doubt. :D

Or, is that "Rain Man" SCUBA? :snicker:

Or, is that "Rain Man" SCUBA? :snicker: SCUBA Heroine lets me GM sometimes on Saturdays....Saturdays.

Definately not on Wednesdays...

This is an unannounced gaming session, Furnace!

Well, I did indeed try to run a game at DieCon with that sort of "Scooby-Doo" background but with my own twisted flair.

I took Scooby and the gang and ran them through my own personal Transmogrifier and came up with Ted, Thelma, Lavender, Rudy, Scuba, and Earl. (Ok, Earl was just tossed in there to be a sixth character but the rest are variations of Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo). The gang becomes a small band of Mercenaries who are pretending to be High School/College students who want to rent a manor house while going to school as a cover for setting up a new Mercenary training camp. Obviously, the old tried-and-true "Guys in a sheet with green glowing paint" was all set up to end a bit differently than most normal Scooby-doo cartoons. :)

Once everyone saw the odd bent I was working on, I think it came off pretty well. Lots of gunfire and even several grenades were the result. While "Old Man Weatherby" in the Sheet didn't get shot, "Bruno the Groundskeeper" did. :-) So did "Aunt Hildegarde", although she didn't make the "most violently splattered" list, as Bruno did after he tried bopping Thelma upside the head with a baseball bat. Never bring a baseball bat to an automatic weapon fight. :-)

All in all, I think it was a blast. I just have to make some modifications and this should work even better in a future run.

I think another Horror Genre that'd play well at a con is Zombie Hero. It leds itself well to a tourney game too, but it doesn't sound like thats what you're lined up for.
Have a great time whatever you end up running!
