It's sad, but she lived a very full life.
There was a previous thread started over in NGD when it was learned she was going home.
Andre Norton is dying (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29032)
edit: No apologies needed for placement IMO.

Two of her works number among my most favorite, The Beast Master, and Here Abide Monsters. These were two of the first SF books I ever read as a lad. She will be missed.

Yeah, wow. I was a huge fan when I was 12-14 years old. I devoured all of her works that were present at the public library. Moon of Three Rings and The X Factor were two books that impressed me greatly as a young adult.
RIP, Andre, you will be missed.

Yet another giant has departed to stride among the stars.
Her books taught me to love science fiction.
And many of them would make exceptional universes for Hero campaigns. I'm thinking about HERE ABIDE MONSTERS, with the parallel dimension where the lords of Faire battle the sinister aliens and their flying saucers.
But most of them have that awe inspiring sense-of-wonder. Try reading (or re-reading) Dread Companion, Dark Piper, and (my personal favorite) The Last Planent (aka Star Rangers).
(if you cannot find copies, try looking at http://www.bookfinder.com where they run about $2 a copy)

I would love to see a Fantasy Hero adaptation of the Witch World series. With Lord Liaden taking a breather, can anyone else direct me to such a thing?

Well Steve Jackson Games once produced a GURPS Witch World sourcebook. If you found a copy you could adapt it to the Hero System.

GURPS Witch World was, indeed, excellent and would be easily adaptable to Hero. Especially useful (as with most of GURPS novel sourcebooks) is the timeline and synopsis for both High Hallack, the Dales, and Arvon, and Estcarp and Escore. Good maps, although I'm not so fond of the artwork.
It's long out of print, though, so e-Bay may be your best bet.
