Hiyas, I believe when building an Ego Attack power, the Damage Shield advantage does not show up in the list or part of the pre-associated modifiers

Yes. That is because EGO Attack is an Instant Power. Damage Shield (as stated in the rules) can only be applied to Constant Powers.

You need to purchase the Continuous Advantage for your EGO Attack before you can add Damage Shield.

Dan, you should just put a "stick" thread at the top titled: Top 10 Most Asked Questions!

That might save you a little bit of the emotional grief.

TY. I was trying to add the DS first before the Continuous, doh!

Of course you're assuming that people would read it... :)

That is very true, but the odd are better that the would then if it was not there at all. :)

You know what...Monolith is right. Even having a FAQ somewhere on the site and a disclaimer at the top of the HD message board section would be plenty...

Agreed, though I don't know if it would cut down on the questions much. :)

Given that Damage Shield and Continuous are explicitly used in the example of Modifiier Intelligence in the manual and it still gets asked constantly, I suspect no one would read a FAQ either.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have "Damage Shield" apply "Continuous" automatically, if it doesn't already appear. (?)

Another option would be to keep all Advantages and Limitations shown in the list all the time, with those which are inappropriate or inapplicable greyed out. (This is the system used in PCGen, or was last time I used it). That has the advantage of having the modifier names available to jog the memory

It would be nice if a mouse hover callout could be invoked explaining why a given modifier isn't available, but that might start getting a little involuted :)

There will be some things like this in v2. I will not automatically assign other Modifiers for you, as I am very much opposed to that idea. However, what I am hoping to do is to have a list of all "unavailable" modifiers in addition to the available list. You will be able to select an unavailable modifier and find out why it is not available. For example, if you selected Damage Shield on a straight EGO Attack, you would be told that Damage Shield can only be applied to a Constant Power.
