View Full Version : Leaping is persistant?

Why is it so? Doesn't one start a leap and end a leap as an action? The leap to me doesn't seem to continue past that point. To me, that says instant.

I can understand fly or run being so, since they have accelleration and what not.

But also, why would powers that use END be considered Persistant?

Did it get typoed in 5ER?

Isn't it Constant (even though technically it's instant)?

Actually, not sure on 5ER, was working in Hero Designer...which may more may not be accurate I suppose.

HD lists Leaping as Constant (which, handily enough, is what 5ER lists it as).

We are a collective of one.

Not that I had a 5ER on hand, but I found the problem. I still had 2.40 which had listed leaping listed as Persistant. Was totally throwing me ;)

I think that leaping is constant not instant as it can take more than a phase to complete in non-combat mode, so if it wan't constant then you'd wind up moving uncontrolled and crashing and...well you get the picture. :)

Good point....

Yes. Once you have targetted yourself with your Leaping, there are no further attack rolls needed in subsequent Phases. ;) One could also argue that it has some aspects of Uncontrolled; if you were, say, Ego Attacked (note no Knockback) [EDIT: to the point of being Stunned or Knocked Out] in the middle of your jump, you would probably continue your jump to its conclusion (though the landing part might be iffy...).

Hmm, from a stand point of real world physics, leaping of course has acceleration. Two in fact: one to start and one to stop. Maybe a leap got defined as not having acceleration from a game stand point for some reason?

Errr...you do realize that Leaping is defined as a Constant Power in 5E (and 5ER), correct? The same as any other Movement Power (Except Teleportation).
