How about a contest to create sample characters .
Let it run for about a month with characters submitted either to the forum and voted on or directly to Steve who will pick the ones he likes best.
The winning characters will be included in either Pulp Hero or one of the upcoming Pulp Hero sourcebooks. The winners get credit and a copy of the product that their character appears in.
How does this idea strike you folks?

I think that it would be a great idea...the only thing stopping it is approval from the "higher authorities".

I don't normally post characters but I would make an exception for a thing like this. Hmm Honeydew Holliday my occult librarian/adventuress might fit well in here, just have to work out how many darn points she is !

I'd really be curious to hear what any of the HERO Games folk would have to say about this idea. It would give the fans a chance to be part of the BIGGER PICTURE, as it were.

I've got a better idea. Considering how Steve's spending his copious amounts of free time lately, how about instead a Pulp Hero character contest for Digital Hero? That's a great way to drum up interest in the Pulp Hero genre book, and gives people some new characters with which to populate their campaigns.

Unfortunately, I don't really have the time right now to read over character submissions, though I'm very flattered by the suggestion.
I think AlHazred has a good idea -- submit some Pulp characters to DH! I'm sure Dave would be happy to get some pulp submissions that he could put in the 'zine this summer as a sort of prelude to the book. We can always use more two-fisted heroes, aviators, masked crimefighters, and globetrotting adventurers. ;)

That's right. In fact, I've got plenty of large articles ready to roll, but I could use a pile of characters to run whenever they fit.

It'll work out easier for me to have the characters e-mailed to me, according to the Hero Games Writers' Guidelines.
