I just got v2.41 installed and running. I also purchased the Fantasy Hero Character Pack and the Grimoire Character Pack.

What do I do with those ZIP files to make HD use them?

Please don't say I need to manually unzip all the zip files within zip files and then load each file separately. That seems aweful.

For $30 you would think they could include a README file that says what to do. Nothing in the manual PDF either.

Help please.

There are really several ways of handling this, my first suggestion would be to open the HD manual and actually read the relavent section... but since you came looking for someone else to answer the question... Unzip all the files into a directory somewhere then from within HD go to Prefabs menu, click Load Prefab... navigate to the directory where the prefabs are, and then click the file.

Hope that helps!

There is no install. Just unzip the packs and put it where it is best for you.

For the two packs you mentioned, I put the NPCs in my FH Character folder under the HD folder.

Also under the HD folder, I've created a folder for the prefabs divided by genre then divided that by spells (or powers), items, and then the other stuff (martial arts and so on).

You then load the prefabs you need. All the base spells are one prefab. All the variation of a particular spell are another.

It can get a little slow working on a wizard or a cleric with a lot of spells but otherwise it goes pretty fast because all the prefabs you need are in one place.

Hope that helps.

Just to make the HD packs more useful in general, it would be real nice if any heroic NPC HDC had his equipment listed somewhere on the sheet/HDC.

Just a cut and paste from the PDF so you don't have to spend time figuring out what they are armed with.

Also a short blurb of who the character is and the discription would be nice. Saves having to flip back to the book.

I'm looking forward to when both the PDF and the HD package can be bought together.

So, for each character, I might need to manually load 20+ prefabs each time??? That sounds crazy.

I would have hoped that HD would make it easy to browse and select spells on-line (i.e. in the software, not needing a book), without needing to look at books to figure out which prefab one needs (and randomly poke around in directories to see where it actually ended up).

I mean the Grimoire has 420 files just itself. What a hassel. Yeah, one small step better than entering by hand, but not very accomodating for on-line character creation.

It is not nearly that bad.

I was only talking about creating a very spell extensive new character.

Each College of Spells has a Prefab and each spell has a prefab with all the variations.

If your spell caster only has a few colleges then you can get by with four or five College prefabs plus an equipment prefab.

Once you have the spell on a sheet, you can just make the change manually.
