As a player or GM have you (or your players) ever made a miscalculation, error, bad judgement, stupid maneuver, or what have you that had resounding positive effects in the longrun? Or Changed your Campaign in anyway?

In one campaign my character, in an attempt to play within the law, turned over the husks of some robots we faced to the Police. In a years time the government had mass produced them and used them to start making thing difficult for the heroes of the US. But, a happy ending ensues. Towards the end of the campaign, a heroic genius developed a "sentience" virus and the "Golden Robots" became free willed almost immediately. They eventally left earth to Colonize Jupitor. It was a cool moment.

In my game, there was a time when the government was trying to instigate a Hero Registration Act.
On of our characters, (Capt. America homage) gave over his info... a few nights later, he was attacked in his bed. A branch of the CIA was found to be wanting to eliminate the heros so that they could install their own (controllable) heros.

Needless to say.... there was a large battle and a goodly section of Langley was leveled.... Ooops
