Did I imagine that I saw something on importing stuff from older software (Heromaker or that one in between that I own and forget what its called)?

Or can someone point me to it?

TIA

There is an export filter for Hero Creator (the previous chargen for 4th edition rules) which is supplied with HD.

You should find it in your installation directory.

No filter (that I am aware of) exists for Hero Maker -- too old/out of date.

Hero Designer has a fliter file for Creation Workshop / Hero Creator. It can be downloaded from the Freestuff section of this web site. Drop it into your Creation Workshop / Hero Creator directory and use it as an output filter from that progam to create a .hdc file.

No such beast exists for Heromaker though.

I think there was a filter for importing Heromaker characters into CW though.

Yes, Hero Creator did have a template to convert HeroMaker files.

I currently have HC and HD set up on the laptop, if anyone wants files converted send me a private message, orignal characters only, anything from the books will be trashed.

Ok, so I open the file in Hero Creator, and export it using this filter... then I can open it in Hero Designer? Sounds simple. And yes, I'm pretty sure Hero Creator allowed you to import old HeroMaker files.

I just found all my original floppies... USM, Primus, Heromaker... and some character pack.

Anyone remember an RPG aid called Hudson City Sector One by Goldtree?

That's the process. Don't expect perfection (the 4th to 5th differences cause occasional weirdnesses) but it does cut down a lot on the data entry.

Vaguely - never got though as I wasn't play Dark Champions at the time it was available.
