Free Character Tools?

Maybe a character template with fields I can edit that spits out something decent-looking like the characters at Lothlorien Academy? This notepad stuff is for the birds.

I may be creating a nice-looking character sheet template for HERO characters for Microsoft Word sometime soon, but if you mean you want an independent program that does this, I don't think there are any. If i make a template, I'll post it.

Best I'm aware of offhand are a couple of spreadsheet programs in this section (http://www.herogames.com/FreeStuff/csheets.htm) of the "Free Stuff" part of the website. There are a few other resources I haven't fully explored, though, being an old pencil-and-paper dinosaur. I'll poke around a bit and see if I can come up with anything.

If you are talking about my Lothlorien Academy . . . I am using Hero Designer v2.0 to generate the intial page then Front Page 2003 for the final work. If you don't own or don't plan to own HD v2.0, you should be able to use something like Front Page to edit any of the pages on my site and put in your own info. If you have HD v2.0, just use ThreePageQ.zip for your export.

I created an Excel workbook at one point that actually had lookup sheets of Skills, Powers, and Modifiers. You could use up/down arrows, select from drop-down lists...yeah, too much time on my hands back then. I'll have to see if I can dig it up. :)

Ghost Archer: that's what I tried first, not with FP but with some freebie HTML WYSIWYG editor. I didn't have good results so I gave up on that (couldn't change the format in ways I needed to, e.g., the indented lines for multipower slots).
