View Full Version : Your Character's Room at the Base

Sort of a "What would your character do" thread, but in this case, What would(does?) your character's Room at the team base look like? What does he/she put in it?
Of course, to do this, even if your character isn't in a team with a base that can be utterly trusted, you have to assume he/she is , a "What if" as it were.
I got the idea as I glanced through that classic "To Serve and Protect" with the Protector's own Citadel. I loved how the various bedrooms told a lot about the members of the team.
So, I thought folks on these boards might enjoy visualizing much the same for their own characters.
Two of my characters just as a fer instance (Neither of which has a room at a base currently but hey):
Defiant (A gun toting all American Patriot type)- Defiant’s room on a base would probably have wood paneling with several objects adorning the walls, most doing with American history. There would be a large map of the country, a picture of George Frickin Washington, and some beautiful paintings of national parks. In one place of honor would be a single silver star medal. His bed would be as big as would make sense for the room, most likely with dark blue sheets and blankets, and an oaken headboard. A picture of a local TV newsreporter is near his alarm. The carpet is a rich brown. If the base didn’t fly an American flag outside, he’d have one in here.
Gaze (Mind Controller, some martial arts)- His base room would be filled with dark velvets and other almost sinister colors. A poster on the wall from over a decade ago that says “Mesmer, Master of the Mind. See him every Tuesday.” would adorn one wall. Another wall would have a collection of news stories clipped from local papers. Of the two oldest, one would be an obituary; the other headline would blurt “Infamous Mob Boss Found A Vegetable”.

Cosmo-Knite is a guy-gardner style green-lantern wanna-be.
He simulates the powers a lantern would normally have
with stolen foci. plus he's a hot-shot lawyer.
So his room has backup foci, souvenir foci, and spare foci.
He has a great computer hook-up and video-phone
because he's well connected and conceited.
There's a large law library on file, plus database and net research.
presumably there's a trophy, picture, and news-article wall;
of course skipping the day where he lost his official knite status.

I've always liked the Peter Parker approach, not so much a room at a base as a cruddy apartment with rent owing. Something about the defenders of humanity being so unappreciated that they have to scrape by like everyone else creates a nice contrast and grounding in the game. After all, Super-hero adventures can get so wild at times that anything that reminds the players of "real life" is useful.
Having said that, the best room idea I came across was an energy-based hero who simply slept in a modified bank of batteries kept in a cupboard. Didn't even need a bedside lamp.

Lessee -
Blackcat - Minimalist and spotlessly clean. She has a very basic futon style bed. A small dresser for clothes, and a small bookcase with martial arts books. A small computer desk, with lots of databases on supers in it. She runs her music through the computer, just so she isn't cluttered up with another piece of electronics. Music is primarily classical and new age, although she has a eclectic taste with some music that would surprise people. Basic blacks and whites for color, and 2 pieces of artwork - Munch's The Scream, and opposite it, a hightech flatscreen that cycles through the 36 views of Mt Fuji by Hokusai.
Ballistic - Fairly cluttered, with books on magic, phyiscs, and myriad such topics spread around. A small workbench with electronics on it, a supertech computer off to the side, and some magical symbols for peace and intelligence on the walls.
Meeb - Empty.

Anthem... Has no base. She works out of an apartment in a rundown tenament in a bad part of town. She feels closer to the problems that way and has the appreciation of her neighbors, who know to get her if there's a problem. It's a simple place, the few momentos being plants, a picture of her deceased mom (in her military dress uniform), and about enough stuff to fit into a suitcase.
Uncle Slam currently resides on the 17th floor of the Marbury building, in the Flood district. His place is adorned with items he's collected over 80 years of adventuring, including gifts (Samurai Sword, Atlantean Spear) but all the medals and militaristic items are stored away. The place is neat, perhaps even spartan. All of his photographs are in books, not sitting out, except for the ones where he's shaking hands with Presidents (Which is every president since 1917).
Audra Blue lives in the room vacated by her deceased mentor. One wall is all monitors, each broadcasting news, entertainment, remote views of various facilities into which she has tapped to do surveillance, etc. A large reclining chair sits before them with a large number of cables and leads running from it to the base computers. A table in the back is stacked high with books on auto-immune disorders, aging, and medical transplants; Most are bookmarked with specific passages highlighted. All around the room in various places are an identical piece of paper with a chemical formula on it, almost as if she were afraid to lose it so she's made dozens of copies. The bed chamber is utterly unused and but for the dust might be considered neat. There's a table covered with beakers and bunson burners, and a couple gross of syringes are in boxes nearby. There are often soda cans and power-bar wrappers lying around. On a shelf in the corner is a small globe of finely crafted glass of indeterminant purpose or origin.

well, Blackjack, once his team became sponsored and they finally got a base, had a suite that came across as a fairly normal apartment...for the next century. Being the team gadgeteer and scientist, a lot of the things he had around were a bit more automated than normal, lots of voice control, custom built audiovisual equipment and the like. The usual personal touches... He's a bit of a pop culture fan, so his decoration tended to run to movie posters and the like. The one thing that made it a bit unusual was that one whole wall of the living room was a panoramic one way window (of some sort of rubber science super material) into the 3 story tall danger room. His suite was adjacent on the 2nd floor. As team leader he'd often watch workouts, but most of the rest of the time the window acted as a dial-a-landscape device. It wouldn't be unusual to come visit him in his room, look out the window, and see, oh, the Jurassic period. Or an veiw of the wreck of the Titanic. Or anything else his imagination could come up with.

Zl'f lives with her Norwegian foster-family in Oslo (even though she's now an adult and is not technically a foster child anymore), sharing a room with the family's same-age daughter, who also happens to be her best friend. That's pretty simple: lots of clothes, some pictures of her and her foster family, a few of her favorite books (She's fond of Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway).
She also has a room at the team leader's mansion, but the only thing she keeps there are a few changes of clothing (mostly for horseback riding), a couple of spare costumes, and a saddle and other gear for taking care of her horse. She hardly ever uses the room to sleep in.
Justicar lives in a spartan apartment attached to the Catholic church where he is a parish priest in Hudson City. It has pictures of his family, his graduation photo from Quantico as a Marine officer, and a couple of bibles and many books on psychology and foreign languages. (Father Gabriele speaks seven languages.)

Enforcer - Depending on size, king size bed, two tall bookshelves with legal, historical, and topical books. A desk, a few computers. Large pornography collection
Mantis - Pretty spartan. Posters of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and other martial arts notibles. A desk, a flat screen tv and a dvd collection of Kung fu films.
Psi-Queen - Lots of knicknacks from alien civilizations.
Captain Blaster - High tech modern, voice activated, posters of landscapes.

Checkmate (skilled normal) kept his room at the base spartan.
Cavalier (minimum STR flying brick) was big on teamwork so kept mementos of his fellow team members in his room (mainly newspaper clippings).
Warlock (mystic) had no lights, but candles. He also had XD movement which went to his demiplane he created. This was "located" inside a sorcerer's tower model he kept in his room.

Rock Bottom: Extra-sturdy bed with a firm mattress and other furnishings to match. College textbooks, some Johns Hopkins banners and posters. His brothers have smuggled him pictures of his family in happier times.
Calculus: Bare mattress, no decorations, nothing to indicate his personality or background at all.
Mask of Justice: All the superhero mementos it would be too dangerous to keep at his apartment, spare outfits, and several different masks. One wall is all newspaper clippings, changing frequently; they aren't about the Mask, but a way for him to keep track of crime trends in the city.
Kira Midori: A fairly spartan room, as she has her own apartment. Blue and silver are the dominant colors. Has her own police scanner, and various electronic gadgets are tucked away. Pictures of people she is friends with adorn the wall nearest the door.
Talion: The lock has been jimmied so often by She-Cat that it no longer works at all. When Talion really needs privacy, he props furniture against the door and hopes for the best. Said furniture is in poor shape, and mismatched; and has only gotten worse since Talion picked it up from Goodwill. The walls are covered in cheap posters to hide the burn marks, blood stains and other hazard-induced damage. Two large dressers hold spare clothing. Talion often has a TV or boom box playing when he's in, but they tend to get trashed on a regular basis.

hmmm interesting...
Lessee?
Chimera: Aside from the normal posh quarters provided by the Ziani group onboard the floating fortress called Miranda, Chimera has stocked the room with the latest equipment she can get her hands on from their suppliers: She is such a tech geek. Her bed is a rumpled mess of silk with a fine goosedown comforter. Her clothes are often just strewn about the room in various stages of clean. Her biosuit often *rests* in the window of her quarters but has been know to scuttle along the floor to keep itself in the light.
Robotman: Robert Secord is trying to have a normal life so he has a bed and dressers and mirrors and everything a normal person would have. But he never sleeps in the bed, only needing 8 hours a week he just shuts down a few minutes here and there for *system updates*. His closet is filled with colorful clothes that rarely last a week due to the stresses his armature places upon them. His walls are adorned with photos from his travels shooting movies and coordinating stunts plus several posters of films he has worked on.
Hardcase: Lorenzo Garfeild lives in Miss Sadie's house so he has a room with a smallish full bed and a hand sewn lace coverlet with blue and pink flowers on it. Every three days Miss Sadie changes out a vase with fresh flowers. Lorenzo doesn't own much so he keeps his stuff in the small three drawer dresser near the window. He has a worn and faded picture of his family back in Chicago in a new frame on the bureau.

Falcon has her own mansion, so she doesn't actually need a room at the team base. If the group started using the base more, she'd probably set up a fairly standard bedroom with two huge closets -- one half-full one with spare costumes and gadgets, and one full of all the appropriate dresses/shoes/hats for a 1930's heiress. (She's had to dash home to change for a "let's maintain the secret ID" social event several times.)

"St Barbara's" room? Hmm. Very large bed with satin sheets, mirror over the top, desk in one corner with computer terminal, chair etc, bookcases. Life size naked pictures of "St Barbara" on the walls (to remind her of her former life as a nude model), I D from UNICEF (plus any awards gained while working for them) framed above desk. Pictures of teammates also on walls along with a picture of herself flying through the air with fireworks bursting in the background.

Tao's room is very spartan and functional. Just a bed, a desk with a computer set up, chair and night stand. She has exactly two sets of clothing currently both identical (her costume). There are no personal effects but that will change as she develops more of an indepentant persona.
Eve keeps her room very clean because she's a good girl. Her large victorian style doll house sits in one corner and she has lots of books and toys on shelves and a big chest. The shelves are guard by her plushes arranged in strategic positions (including snipers) and she'd got a number of posters on her walls of various cartoons that she likes. The ceiling is painted with a glow in the dark night skyscape.

Aha, yes, the privates appartements...
Marble Man; As a Kardhar prince, this subterannean lives in sturdy quarters, to accomodate his high density; Holos of deserts are projected on the wall. Marble columns surrounds a little garden of upright, cristal-looking stones. Low, stumpy black obsidian chairs surround an elevated slab of limestone serving as a table. In one corner, a low deck is filled with the finest sand to serve as the Prince' bed. A computer holoscreen is the only concession to the upside world, Marble man using it to play his favorite music; Australian dingeridoo (sp?).
Myst's room is not only melancolic; it is sinister. A huge column bed stands alone in the center of the room, wrapped by flapping veils of diaphane fabric. Every piece of old-style furniture is under a diaphane wrap also, and cobwebs tends to invade the corners. Old dusty dolls are lined on the bed, waiting. Both sounds of distant laughter and crying can sometimes be heard. Myst is a ghost for 40 years now...

Ghost Archer's been living in the same place for 22 years so I have had a lot of time to imagine what the place is like. Recently I discover Sims 2 and found a great way to give visuals to Archer's quarters. I have a few posted on my site. Here's a few examples of the ground floor. Its kind of a common room for many of the younger members of the team.

Midnight's room? Zen Decadent. It might be simplistic in its looks, but you can bet she's got silk sheets, the most expensive wall scrolls money can buy, a REAL daisho from Japan (you know, the kind that's normally in a museum somewhere), and so on.
And she's probably fairly close to the base kitchen, and if it doesn't already have one, it's a safe assumption she put in a wine cellar.

Blazing Arrow just has a few dead squirrels for a snack and some sticks for an occassional fire, along with a mattress. The door is partly broken, right where the card system lock should be (Blazing Arrow uses no technology, despite each subsequent retraining by UNTIL). They get mad when the door isn't fully sealed, since the indoor fire sets off the main alarms (in his room, of course, they relented and put in a vent and no smoke alarm).

Dr. Anomaly
Jul 19th, '05, 09:14 PM
Dr. Anomaly - Actually a 3-room suite. The main room has walls that are mostly covered by dark-stained and well-polished walnut bookcases, holding books both favorite and useful. You'll find everything from Gray's Anatomy to the Chemist's Handbook to ages-old tomes of forgotten lore written thousands of years ago. You'll also find his leatherbound collection of The Far Side and some of his favorite fiction and poetry. There is also a somewhat old-fashioned rolltop desk which contains the usual writing implements and materials, as well as a computer terminal. A small, aged trunk next to the desk contains a good sampling of materials and devices often used in magical workings. A large area rug covers the floor; it's woven in the intricate geometric shapes common in the Middle East. There is also a small reading table with two comfortable chairs. Though he doesn't smoke often -- and when he does it's a pipe -- Dr. Anomaly keeps an ashtray on this table.
The bedroom also has a couple of bookshelves, mainly for storing the hundred or so books and volumes he's studying at the present time -- it's his read-before-sleeping material. The bed itself is large and comfortable with cotton sheets and thick spreads; it's a four-poster of dark maple, though with no canopy. There is a dressing table and a free-standing wardrobe. Other than the bookcases, there are some enlarged photographic shots of various beaches and islands in the Carribean. One oddity is that the photos are all framed and displayed on art easels -- a necessity since the walls of the base are invulnerable, indestructable, and adhesives won't stick for more than a few seconds before sliding off.
The last room is, of course, a bathroom -- large and luxurious, with a rather old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub.

Bloodguard's room at the bas has a sign on the door that says "Do not enter under any circumstance" the interior is filled with booby traps that are set off by any entry into his room. He has his own base independent of the team, thats where he stays.

Well, my character isn't in any team, per se, but if that happened...
Since Queen of Spades is a gearhead, she would peffer a loft room with easy access to the base's vehicle pool. (Loft = up in the rafters. You get the idea.) In the loft, though, she'd have all usual amenities like a hotel room (minifridge, bathroom with shower stall) but with a bit more room to hold a nice, big table and a decent-sized bed. The table would be, of course, decorated with gutted motor components and assorted tools. On the walls would be a few bookcases with both casual and mechanical reading, a dresser, and Richard Petty/Mythbusters posters (if she can get them.)

Umm, well my character in the game we're playing now does have a room on the star ship we travle on.
Zekari's "Cave"
It's big, big enough for an enourmous dragon to stand and walk around in (X 8 human size). It's devoid of all furniture except a large pile of shiney miscellaneous things under a big red shiney blanket. Items include, gems, bottle caps, the faucet to the prison ship sink she stole in the second session.
Behind it is a rather large repaired stain glass window depicting the pelican piercing it's breast. It was originally picked up when by accident she crash landed through the window when she was much smaller. She has no idea what it is or means, but thinks it's pretty.
Her room is located right across from the ship's brig, the door has no windows and it is lovingly marked by a sign that says "Loot"
She also lays claim to the ships walk in freezer, where she tends to take naps in the afternoon and snacks on the meat that's stored there. If you can't find her in her room, she's probubly in the freezer. Being a lightning dragon she prefers high altitudes and is more acustomed to cold temperatures.
She also pays daily visits to the goats and animals that are kept on board for her. She has a lot of disadvantages that deal with agression and food, and has been known to eat sentients and crew memebers. The other PCs sometimes like to try to capitalize on this one ;)

Hmmmm.
Hamlet Laughton - His room at the base is his office. It's hermetically sealed, lined with lead, which is lined with aluminum foil, which is lined with an opaque electrically conductive lcd paneling, which is in turn lined with a laser grid, and then sound proofed. The door is only unlocked by a combination of voice print of a spoken pass phrase (changes every use), a 80 character password, and a DNA test taken at the same time as the retinas are scanned.
If security is breached, there are a number of incapacitating systems setup, along with the chlorine gas filling the corridor and all rooms in a 150' radius (he put this in after a alternate dimentional Laughton complained about its lack of existence....long story).
Inside the office is his large desk piled with organized stacks of folders on the cases he is working on, a huge plasma display hangs on one wall that functions as the console for his secure computer. He also has a food replicator on one wall, but it only dispenses balogna sandwiches (on white wonder bread, no condiments) for those long, long sessions of deep concentration.
There is also a public office upstairs on the main floor--this one is used for meeting with clients, and when he doesn't mind being disturbed. It's furnished in typical cheap Office Depot "executive" mode. Looks ok, but obvious to anyone its just vinyl covered pressboard. Lots of filing cabinets filled with pseudo fake files and high-tech locks.
Laughton also has a room at the Unicorn Motel--one of those scuzzy little spots that rent rooms by the hour or the month. He changes rooms there about once a week. He doesn't actually sleep there, just has some junk mail sent to the front desk, in that room he keeps some emergency situation type things hidden--a spare gun, some cash, false ids, change of clothes.
He also rents out an apartment across the street from the detective agency. It is empty. However the front windows have a good view of the street and the Sihntek executive offices.
Laughton actually lives in a nice cardcoard box--an Amana 28 cu ft refridgerator box, lined with tar paper and covered with duct tape and black plastic garbage bags. It's lined with aluminum foil. He tends to move it around depending on what he has under surveillance at the time.
Hey, when you're the world's greatest detective, you make a few enemies, gotta be prepared, ya know?
The Goshawk - Here's a description of the lovely pad Peter lives in.
Peter surveyed his desmenes. Three opened and empty
cardboard boxes (two u-haul specials, and a naval orange crate) took up the
center of the dingy apartment. An ecclectic collection of dumpster quality
furniture completed the look. An old loveseat, covered in real leather,
and smelling like cowboy boots, a table made from a closet door with two
folding chairs, and a rolling garment rack held court over the masterpiece
along the back wall between the two puny windows: eight feet of plywood and
cinder block bookshelves filled floor to ceiling with text books, technical
manuscripts, scrap books, and boxes of newspaper clippings. In short,
everything that held interest to Peter in his life. In the bathroom, was
the other important piece of furniture, the locking armoire where he kept
his Goshawk gear.
"Well, it stinks like a sausage factory, and the view of the brickwall is
a distant second to the worst view I've ever had, but at least for eight
weeks, it's paid for." Peter shook his head, and took a seat at his
table, and flipped through the want ads again.
Hopefully, when he gets a real job, he can hit Ikea and get something better.
Coriolis - has the unfortunant luck to have the room next to Blazing Arrow's. The good news: being a master of the winds, he rarely has any issues with smoke from the squirrel cook outs next door. His room has plenty of publicity photos and laminated newspaper articles about his favorite hero--himself! There is a large beanbag in one corner set up to watch movies or surveillance films, and a floor to ceiling glass trophy case filled with momentos and knick knacks from his adventures.
There is also a large framed poster of Coriolis advertising for Burgerville. The caption says "Save a squirrel, have one of our tasty burgers instead"

Oh, and Photos doesn't really have a room yet, he's still working towards rediscovering "the hero within" :) .
The Aardvark just has his rented house, for now. At the Aardvark's one floor house, there's no dedicated super-room, but he keeps his "costume" (motorcycle helmet, gas mask with long aardvark-like snout (people think it's an elephant snout though, as it's poorly made), leather jacket, various utility sorts of clothing from Salvation Army) in a locked box in the top of the closet. At the bottom of the box are a few mementos (a thank you letter, a picture of a cat saved from a tree, a trophy from the Boy Scouts for helping them out) and a mostly-empty scrapbook with 12 newspaper clippings in it.
His house is rather ramshackle, Ramen Noodle packages litter the kitchen shelf space, an old pizza box sits on the discolored coffee table, mismatched and tattered furniture speaks of little money and no fashion sense. He has a TV but no cable. The most annoying thing is the place is near the airport so the planes go by and make a lot of noise. He has insomnia, and half the time the planes wake him up just after he's finally gotten to sleep. But it's cheap and fairly spaciously. He shares the place with his dog, Ben, whom he occasionally takes on patrol (but is neither a Follower nor DNPC, just "color").

Hey! Blazing Arrow sheds a tear like the guy in the old ad. Well, Coriolis is just slow to learn. He liked the dinner at the base just fine, he didn't even notice the meat was squirrel, although he didn't seem to eat too much of it...

PS - for example, Jonas Hell no longer has an office there, the offices have changed since a couple floors were added, too.

Meeb - Empty.
Doesn't he have a bucket or something he sleeps in, like in every sixteen hours or so?
Oh, wait....

Interesting Necro - I'll update.
Terminal Velocity - A poster of Dr Force (his dad), some rock posters, he would likely have a cheesecake picture or two up, but doesn't so he doesn't irritate his teammates who would be annoyed. Stereo system, and a bunch of music done digital. A bookshelf with cookbooks and Chef's stuff, plus his textbooks (He's studying to be a chef). He uses the kitchen in the base to cook with, and that is set up to be the way he wants it to. Pretty typical male teenager stuff.
Smokeater - he lives at home, but his place at the base has a decent bed, a fairly high end computer, and some music. A couple of framed newspaper clips about himself, both as a super, and back when he was a firefighter.
Sift - Thier base is a floor of a huge old apartment building that has magical tendencies. Her room is actually a small suite; two bedrooms (Sift is actually two people joined to gether a la firestorm)
Kelsey's room: Very loud stereo, with lots of nemetal, R&B and rap. Posters of said artists, A couple of nice Airplane pics (she is training to be a pilot), and a collage of the last 10 olympic gymnastic gold medal winners. A small area for her Karate/Tae Kwon Dostuff (weapons, sparring gear ect). Utilitarian bed.
Katrina's Room: You can't move around it easily for all the books there - books on every subject but focused on the occult and magic. Plus her school books (both as a Master's student, and as a TA/Teacher). Big old style 4 post oversized bed, a small table for incense, and a fairly decent computer that has some arcane symbols etched onto it (and a funky mystic looking background). The only thing decorating the walls (besides bookshelves) is her sword and staff - and a picture of Morihei Ueshiba above them.
The main room has a TV, stereo, and a large worktable for magical experimentation, and a number of other bookshelves with Kat's books.

Using my CoH characters since I'm not in a FTF game right now:
Psilancer: A common, basic, single bed. Matching desk and desk chair. Few personal items. A cheap throw rug on the floor. And the only item for comfort is a large overstuffed chair facing a 40" TV. (She puts her makeup on int he bathroom mirror.)
Miss Howler: Walls are painted a muted, light red. A think plush carpet in Crimson covers the floor. (Red dominates her color scheme) An antique, solid wood, four poster Queen sized bed dominates the room, She has a seperate sitting room/ office. With the furniture all of antique hardwood.

Great thread. Unfortunately, I need to spread some rep...
*sigh*
Most of the Knights have dual residences- the apartment at the base and another home somewhere else. Only Nova I think didn't have a place and it was big storyline when she DID get her own place.
I'll do some thinking for how the various apartments would look - it's so hard to keep so many character in my head.

anyone else find it hilarious that someone named Hermit created this thread?
Ashley is mostly a loner type of person, staying at Phidippus's hidden sewer base. Due to the amount of injuries he takes on every game, he essentially sleeps in the sun-tanning healing station, then watches TV on the couch when he isn't patrolling. He's basically a mooch.

Millennium Lots of mirrors. Big screen TV. Lots of books on folklore of various cultures, DVD's of classic movies, The Hero With a Thousand Faces in paperback, hardback, audiobook, and e-book, plus the DVD of Campbell's lectures. Comfortable chair with good reading light.
Cheeta Lots of mirrors. Big screen TV. No books. Big screen is flanked by six smaller TV's with no sound, often tuned to to seven different games at the same time. Recliner with perfect view of the TV's.
Snow Leopard Very Spartian. Bed, desk, chair. Only luxury is a moderately good sterio. Bookshelf contains a few chachkas given to her by friends, nothing she has bought for herself. On the top shelf, a Philodendron thrives on medium light and benign neglect.
Iron Will Looks like an ICU.
Dolphin The room is dominated, and 3/4 filled, by a fully stocked custom made salt water aquarium.

One of my favorite characters, Eastern Knight, shares a room at the base with her mentor, Bushi. Knight is about 25, but only in chronological years. Her powers, in a nutshell, are part natural gravity defying stuff (wuxia type jumping), and a few other minor things she acquired from a magical suit of samurai armor that belonged to her great grandfather, and his sword.
Bushi is her 19 year old mentor, a monk assigned to be her teacher, who is very uptight. Knight, however, is a big kid who eats three times her weight in food and lives for video games and Dragonball Z. She's been known to cry out "Kamehameha" during a fight.
Bushi never let her have a TV or video games. Their room is very traditional Japanese minimalist, so Knight spends all her time in the TV room at the base, playing video games on the big screen. Before they moved into the base, she had to climb out on the side of the building they lived in, using her powers, and watch TV through other people's windows.

Ace might have a room at the base, but he would keep a condo nearby, mainly because the other team members would likely object to him constantly bringing random bimbos back to the base. It would be decorated right out of a catalog, Rooms To Go style, with occasional touches from love interests who lasted longer than a week. He'd go for touches that suggested affluence and taste without actually requiring that one has any; when in doubt, he'd decorate to match sets from "Nip/Tuck."
Cat's room would be a mess, a real teenager habitat, with papers and comic books scattered among clothes, CDs, and bits and pieces of crimefighting gear. One wall would be a virtual shrine to her favorite superheroes, while the other wall would have a corkboard with tidbits from the news and internet news sources concerning local crime.
Holocaust's room would be spartan. The bed would be covered with a single, thin blanket, and the desk would have on it only a notebook and some pens. There might be some empty lager bottles here and there, but other than that, her clothes are all neatly put away, and there's no sign of human habitation. Stuffed under her bed, way under, are spiral notebooks crammed manic scrawlings, nearly illegible and completely incoherent rantings about everything, grand theories of how mayonaisse and Peruvian politics are connected, etc. They are the product of those times when she has gone off her meds (she's a paranoid schizophrenic), but she can't bring herself to throw them away...
Captain Conifer keeps his flannel shirts pressed and hung up in the closet, along with his many pair of jeans and his half dozen sets of sturdy hiking boots. On his desk would be numerous woodcrafts given to him by friends as well as a Sierra Club magazine and stacks of student papers (he's a professor of botany). His bookshelf would be filled to overflowing with studies on stuff like interactions between ectomycorrhizal fungi and expansive soil saprobes... he finds this sort of thing fascinating, and can't comprehend why anyone wouldn't. He also has books on hiking, on trails on which to hike, on people's stories about hiking, etc. His movie rack is filled with nature documentaries and his walls are adorned with Ansel Adams prints. He's a singularly dull person.

From my group's "Millenium City Knight Force" campaign:
Dr. Pope - Doc's room is actually mostly lab space. (She's the group's detective and forensic specialist.) The walls are decorated with posters showing her support for her beloved University of Michigan football team. (Doc is a huge Wolverines fan and follows them everywhere.) There are also photographs from her days as an undergraduate student at CalTech, copies of her diplomas and professional certificates, and a letter from Paramount Studios apologizing for sterotyping artificial intelligences. (Doc is an android and is a little sensitive about the whole "Frankenstein" thing.)
Mage - Mage doesn't actually live at the base, but he does keep a room there. There's a wardrobe where he keeps a spare costume and a couple of changes of "civilian" clothing; a desk; and a bed. It's also the place where he leaves his communicator and other technological devices before going home for the day. (Like Harry Dresden, Mage isn't so good with technology.) :angst:
