Hiya Guys ...
I had an idea the other day and thought that, in conjunction with the CU Update due out next year, that it could be interesting ...
WotC has a bi-weekly (could be weekly) column for Eberron that's basically a headline from the news. It's detailed in about a paragraph or two and posted for use as a plot hook or just background. That got me thinking about Champions. Would it be possible to do something like this officicially from Hero? Have something like a column by Jim Dugan that described an interesting plot in the CU? Even as a DH article I think it has potential ....

I mentioned the same thing a week or so ago in another thread. I'd love to see a DH column each issue with some headlines and a one paragraph story about some of the other heroes in the CU. There's a lot of people in this game world we really know nothing about.
I knew I heard it somewhere here ... just didn't have time to search for it ;) I think I'd prefer it as a web article ... but a DH blurb would be shway as well :)

Keep in mind that WotC actually hired a journalism major to write the column (the Sharn Inquisitive, I believe). So, you're basically calling for Steve to do even more work.
Though, I could see it as a little somethin' somethin' from one of the Hero Saints -- you know, those holy men of the Hero pantheon who've contributed to the canon.

I think a rotation of creators could be neat here ... I'm sure if someone asked some of the DH writers that they'd jump at the chance to help out ...

This is where it might be prudent for us to take $#!+ into our own hands. When I get off work this afternoon, I'll grab my Champs Universe book, and start posting something in the forum once a week. I've got an English/Creative Writing degree from a very respectable college, I'm applying to journalism schools, I love HERO. Why should I wait until someone else does it? Those "HERO Saints" already got enough on their plate. Unless somebody else decides to do it before I get off work at 1600 hours pacific, you'll be getting a Champions Universe update this evening.
Now, obviously, nothing big or campaign altering can happen, but "Grond Broke This, Captain Chronos Stole That, Foxbat Went Psycho" is plenty of room for plot seeds and laughs, I suppose.

Great idea CK :) Perhaps we should make a blog that's Hero News?
I know I made a blog (http://tributetimes.blogspot.com/) that's for my own campaign so I could drop plot points here and there ....

I sat down to do this last night after work, and I hit a roadblock. Not mental, I've got the ideas, but...
With the CU Update, VVV and CWW coming out soon, it sounds like DOJ has stuff in the pipeline. I'd feel stupid writing about how Nighthawk and Defender stopped Foxbat from robbing a bank, only to have an "official" source mention that Foxbat converted to good in January, 2005. Or something like that. News isn't fun unless something happens, and while plot seeds are good, I think only an official source can do something like that.
But maybe I'll eat my pride and just start writing stuff, and if it gets contradicted later, whatever.

There it is. My first shot. Let me know what you think, and I'll try and do it once a week. I'll try and keep it low key, so I don't look like an idiot if I conflict with any official stuff. Don't mean to step on any toes, so DoJ, it's fan stuff.
Anyway, let me know.
