I know the thread title sucks, but I couldn't come up with something better.

I saw the JLA epsiode Legends (http://www.tv.com/justice-league-unlimited/legends-1/episode/125560/summary.html) some time ago, and I became "inspired" to come up with something similar (in other words a homage) in Champions Universe. After browsing thru the majority of my Champion books I decided to quite my search, and instead create the homage myself. A few days later I was looking in the Champions Universe book - looking for something completly different - and then it struck me, the homage potential had been there all the time...

The Mediaverse

In the Champions Universe there are several TV shows and comics. Unknown to it's viewers/readers, these aren't just fantasies. Each "media item" has its own universe. Some examples are:

To Save The World: This mediaverse is a homage to all the four color super comics, and thus to the JLA episode Legends. I've started out with the stats for the main characters, based on what's given for them (or there look alikes) in the Champions Battlegrounds adventure. I've also changed the name of the mediaverse to Omegaverse (after the superhero team). The villains have created a supervillain group (or rather a loose network) called Adversaries Unlimited.
Walking Gods: This mediaverse is a homage to the RPG Aberrant (and probably Adventure and Trinity to). I haven't done much to it yet, but I have plans.
CU-2: This the mediaverse created by the Champions magazine. It's sort of like a "what if"-setting. There are several minor changes to the official CU setting, but not enough to remove the sense of familiarity.
What do you think about this?

I just read this in the comic books' (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34334) thread:

Gardner Fox told us that superhero comics on Earth-1 were about the real heroes of Earth-2. Barry Allen learned how to be a superhero by reading about the adventures of Jay Garrick. This was shown in Showcase #4. Later on, of course, he met Garrick in person! (Flash #123).

It's a difficult choice, isn't it? Two authoritative sources in conflict. Obviously we need to go with the one which is the more fun.

Given the amusement value of PCs getting involved in marketing, I would go with superhero comics being published personally.

I refuse to comment as to whether or not any supposedly fictitious superheroes actually exist in a parallel universe... ;)

Kind of related, we had a game once where the characters had a remote that took them into different channels which were actually alternate dimensions reflecting popular TV shows.

By the time the adventure was done, due to a goof-up in how the PCs handled a crisis relating this world to the electronic dimension, the animated "Loonyverse" with WB and Disney and other characters manifested here on Earth. PS - and remained, very Roger Rabbit-like.
