I am creating a prefab for all the example powers in all the books I have (all I'm missing is TUV and M. City) but I'm wondering how I should do it. I started with Fred and I'm all the way through the powers section and am now on the advantages section.

The powers were pretty easy as I just made a list with a name the same as the power and added the example powers under it. For example Energy Blast. I made a list called Energy Blast and had the Light Blast, Blaster Pistol and Fire Bolt Spell in the Energy Blast list. I was thinking of just keep going with the Power Modifier example powers but should for instance "Necromancer's Chains" go under Affects Desolid, or should I put it under Entangle. The reason I ask is when I get to the Champions book, I want to add those examples too and they aren't in lists by powers. So should I keep everything orginized by the base power that creates the example or some other way?

Well since no one else has replied...
Are you planning on sharing these with others? If not, it doesn't really matter. Personally I would group them in the most logical order I could think of which would be category or power.
Since I'm the only one who replied, when do I get my copy? ;):D

When you say "Catagory" or power, what do you mean catagory?

Eventually I plan on grouping them a couple of different ways. I think I'll start with by power though. Then I'll go though and do it by advantages and disadvantages and then do it by SFX, like all magic spells grouped together, all guns etc. Sample Powers will be in more than one location but it will make it easier to find what you're looking for.

As far as sharing, I'd love to, I'm not sure if DOJ has plans to sell something like this, so I doubt they'd be too keen on free distribution, but I don't think they'd mind if I gave my work to one or two people...Would they?

Feel free to send it my way then. :D I can put them to good use for sure, but you may want to check to be sure. I'll leave that up to you.

By category, you said it. I would group them by powers, spells, effects, etc. as you mentioned. Are you putting these in different files or as single files of multiple prefabs?

My original plan is all in one prefab. You'd have a large list of all the powers, advantages and SFX. Right now though I've just thorugh the powers powers and it's getting a little bogged down, so I may break it up. I may just break it up by book. All of Fred in one Prefab, Champions in another etc. Haven't really decided yet, and not sure if HD can handle something that large. I think I'll ask Dan (the programmer of HD) if thinks there will be any problems with making a Prefab so large.

Yes there will be.
We have discussed this in a couple other threads. When files get exceptionally large, like you are going to have, HD will crawl big time. With 128 megs minimum this could hang a machine for quite a while. I would build for lowest common denominator personally.

Yeah I just talked to Dan, a prefab that large will make the program slow to a crawl. I guess I will do a list for each catagory, but even that will get pretty big...Maybe this isn't such a good idea :(
